where I'm at
Seems like I'm the only person still pregnant! It's been great to see
Lu-Lu back and hear about the arrival of Kieran. I think it's strange that in such a small group, we have two mums with narcolespy! I'm now 30+3, things are a mixture of good and bad with me, good is that my symphysis pubis pain is way better than it was at this stage with my last pregnancy, my hip has also been pretty good, still better at this stage than when I actually got pregnant! In part I think that is just time post surgery. I've been working with a great physio, very different to anyone I've worked with before, I wish I'd found her a few months ago! My main moan physically is my right rib cage, shoulder and upper arm, it's very painful and painkillers don't seem to have much effect and it's a difficult area to rest, I can't exactly stop breathing on one side! The bad is that I seem to have been struck by antenatal depression, at first it seemed like stopping taking meds for narcolepsy as well as the typical 1st trimester tiredness and then it not really lifting was causing me to feel as if everything was getting on top of me because there just wasn't enough awake time. So at about 20 weeks, we tried a small dosage of an alertness med and it did seem to slow things down for a while, but in the last 4-5 weeks it's become much more obvious that I'm generally down, not coping, anxious etc. I got a recommendation from a friend for a psyhciatrist specialising in women's issues, but it's still a couple of weeks until the first available appointment, at the I made it I was still thinking I just wanted to touch base with someone, have a plan, that kind of thing, in case of PPD, which I had after my first. I finally admitted this weekend that this approach wasn't going to work, I had a problem NOW and sitting on it wasn't going to help anyone, so called up and made an urgent appointment with my primary care doctor and have started back on Zoloft. I'm not sure how I feel about that. I'm also lined up to see a counsellor, not sure how I feel about that either! To add to all of this, I've been having lots of contractions, not particularly unusual for me, but they've never changed my cervix before, but now I'm 70% effaced and very soft, which is more change than 6 hours before DD was born. Fetal fibronectin test 10 days ago was negative, but that only tells you birth is very unlikely within 2 weeks. We have an appointment with our midwife today, so we'll discuss then what, if anything we do next, currently, I'm supposed to be taking things easy and have been prescribed terbutaline for when I have more than 6 contractions in an hour, but I've had to stop taking it as it was making my anxiety even worse.
