Witness in Rilya Wilson case may also testify in "Lollipops" case

The Associated Press

MIAMI - The jailhouse informant and key witness in the Rilya Wilson
murder case may also testify in another child murder trial, the "Baby
Lollipops" case.

Robin Lunceford told investigators in August that Rilya's caregiver,
Geralyn Graham, gave a detailed confession in jail to the girl's
death, prosecutors said.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office also has named Lunceford as a
witness against Ana Maria Cardona, who is accused of killing her
3-year-old son and dumping his body on a roadside in 1990.

When Lazaro Figueroa's shrunken, scarred body was found in the bushes
of a Miami Beach estate, investigators initially called him "Baby
Lollipops" for the stained T-shirt he was wearing.

Prosecutors would not comment Monday about Lunceford's statement in
the Rilya case, or her expected testimony in the Baby Lollipops case.
But prosecutors have said they did not make any plea deals in exchange
for her cooperation in either case.

It's not clear what information Lunceford has about Cardona, or where
they may have met. Lunceford has served time at the Broward
Correctional Institution, where Cardona spent almost 10 years on death
row before the Florida Supreme Court overturned her conviction in
2002.

A Florida Department of Corrections spokeswoman said death row inmates
are kept segregated from the rest of the population.

Cardona is awaiting a new trial later this year. Her lawyer, assistant
Miami-Dade public defender Edith Georgi, said she has not deposed
Lunceford to learn what evidence she provided.

Lunceford allegedly told investigators that Graham said she suffocated
or smothered Rilya in December 2000. Investigators have not found the
4-year-old foster child's body.

Graham's lawyer, Brian Tannebaum, questions Lunceford's motives and
her credibility.

Meanwhile, Lunceford is facing armed robbery charges. If convicted,
she faces life in prison.

Court records show that she has been convicted of 15 robberies in
three states since 1980, and has pulled off three prison breaks.
