Hi all i have been reading these forums for months now, they have been
great. I am 35 weeks pregnant due on the 3rd of July, I went for my check
up today and they found i have some protein in my urine. He did say it was
nothing to worry about at the moment but it would need to be monitored.
What are the chances of developing preeclampsia? I should have asked while I
was there but i was shocked everything has been going really well and I
still feel fine.

cheers
renae

A lot of women spill a little protein, especially
later in pregnancy. You only need to worry if you start
spilling significant amounts and your blood pressure starts
going up. No need to borrow trouble. Report any symptoms
like abdominal pain, severe headaches, visual disturbances.

Best wishes,
Ericka

If you're concerned, call back and ask for more specifics. I really expect
that if it was anything to worry about, your doctor or midwife would have
given you restrictions (limited activity or bedrest).

However, as my doctor puts it, late in pregnancy almost EVERYONE starts
having some pre-eclampsia symptoms, which are just part of pregnancy. If the
BP is ok, and you're not having any of the more severe symptoms you're fine.
If you're really concerned, you can start monitoring your BP-what I've been
told is that 2 readings over 140/90 more than 3 hours apart, or a rise of
more than 20 points in both numbers from your usual more than 3 hours apart
is a sign for concern.
