Let's think about why folks might be more rude now. Parents not teaching good manners to children: Sure they are. The are failing, but of course they are teaching. · A great deal of blame, 69% Yes, it is, isn't it. Cause and effect? Maybe. What do numerous other polls show? And aren't they oft quoted in this ng to PROVE that spanking is approved of by the majority? In the US 90+% of parents spank to teach, among other things, "manners." Any questions? 0:- |

This is an opinion poll, it carries no scientific evidence. However, I
think opinion polls can be interesting, as long as they are recognized for what they are -- opinions -- and nothing else. For example, how is rude defined? Is it popularly defined the same way in 2005 as it would have been in 1975 or 1985? We don't know and the opinion poll can not give us that information. What are good manners? Are good manners defined the same way in 2005 as they were in 1975 or 1985? The popular opinion of what constitutes rude behavior as well as what constitutes good manners is ever evolving. This is an interesting poll, and anyone who reads the poll needs to consider the myriad of variables that contributed to individual responses.
