Default When does CS End?

When does Government dictated child support end? One child has turned 18
and decided not to go to college. Now she's decided to go to college next
semester. She is no longer qualified under my health insurance because she
is 18, out of school and no longer a full time student. I haven't gotten
her taken off my CS but I can't afford to pay extra for her college. I skip
medicines and Dr appointments because CS has always kept me milked dry. If
I would choose college for myself now, I would have to have assistance as I
could not afford it for myself. Just wondering if I'll ever see a full
paycheck before I die. Probably not!!!

Termination of CS varies from state to state. Do a Google search using the
phrase "termination of child support "and your state's name. You should be
able to find the law and read it, plus determine all the legal definitions
for termination.

Then you can use your state's online CS calculator to determine
approximately how much you can save by asking for a modification. Some
states CSE offices are very proactive is notifying NCP's when children no
longer qualify for CS and will initiate the modification process for you.
You may only have to let them know your child is no longer in school for
them to act. If you go through the state CSE office stay on top of them
because they might try to drag out the modification process.
