"Sarah Vaughan" wrote in message ... In message mLUbd.48$fP3.3@trndny05, firedancer623 writes Is it possible? Any good tips how? I got a questionnaire which basically qualified me with a note saying something along the lines of "you will be summoned within the next year" My husband works 40 miles away, I have no childcare (all family lives hours away) and all my usual baby sitters either work or are in school all day. Oh, and Im still nursing Xander. Right on the questionnaire it said that needing childcare, transportation or work reasons did not qualify to reject you. What crap!!! I really really don't want to serve but if I get summoned, I will do whatever I can to NOT serve. Please no reponses how it's my duty as a US citizen, heh, I've wanted to leave this country for years now (can't convince dh) As luck would have it, I was reading a link about this the other day (specifically about the b'feeding issue, not so much the childcare issue, but you might find it helpful). See http://www.kellymom.com/bf/normal/jury-duty.html. All the best, Sarah Thank you! That was very helpful and interesting |

Most states allow an extension automatically if you are nursing Call the
jury people and ask! -- Sabine (It worked for me in CA!) "firedancer623" wrote in message news:mLUbd.48$fP3.3@trndny05... Is it possible? Any good tips how? Just curious. I have a friend who moved to Turkey and said she would not want to move back to the United States of America. Canada. It would be fairly easy for us to relocate as we only live 2 hours from Niagara Falls, 3 hrs from Toronto - which is basically where we'd go. My husband would get a transfer working at another power plant directly across the Lake from where he now works. Comparable pay based on cost of living would make it feasible for us to pick up and go. I am not real happy with the Bush administration and what direction this country has been taking, or where it is headed. I've said several times that if Kerry doesn't get elected, Im moving. Not totally serious but not totally joking either. I just dont feel like I belong here. I dont have a great (basically, none) sense of patriotism, and being a Navy wife for several years did nothing but make me feel even more negative about the whole thing. I hope that helps answer your question Kari ~Carol Ann |

The URL of the "Family Friendly Jury Duty" site is: http://www.familyfriendlyjuryduty.org This is a comprehensive website that has among other things: - What to do when called for Jury Duty and have no one to care for your kids. - A listing of states that excuse SAH parents/guardians from jury duty - Outlines the process on how to change the jury duty laws in your state - How to report misconduct by a judge or court worker Good luck! |
