It's not for me: it's for DH. Some guys are like that: they like to have
hard numbers in front of them. Mine is a real techie, and he will feel

much
more "in control" (hh ha) if he feels he can watch over things, and get

nice
graphs and pie charts out of it!

Definitly a guy thing. I actually saw the subject line and thought the OP
was male, lol. If it's their way of feeling in control of wht can be a scary
situation for them then so be it, IMO. As long as they are not barking out
times. That would be incredibly annoying.

However, later on that night, when the cramping returned with a
vengeance, I definitely didn't feel like timing anymore!

My point exactly. As long as the contractions are iffy enough that I have
to time them to figure out if they're 'real', they're by definition not
real enough to bother timing them. If they're significant enough to be
worth timing, I don't need to time them because I *know* they're coming
fast and hard.

It's good for people who have preterm labor. I had contractions forever and
just used a contraction timer because I was tired of keeping track of when I
needed to go in. I could take a quick look and see if I had more than x
number of contractions in the last hour. If I didn't record them, I
couldn't remember how many I've had. I didn't want to wait until I knew the
baby was coming for sure, because I didn't want the baby to come for sure.
I wanted to come in early to prevent labor.

I don't do math, pregnant or not. That's why I know what a calculator
is...push buttons...

True, but it was a fun exercise for me, nonetheless.

I LOVED using the PalmOS Contraction Timer during my labor. I really did.
I also used it later on for timing BF sessions!
