Political Notebook by Daniel Scarpinato : Comparing CPS errors to
typos draws ire

Maybe there's a reason you're not supposed to compare apples to oranges
— oftentimes, mixing the two can leave a real bad taste in your mouth.
During a press conference this week, Ken Deibert, deputy director of the
state's Department of Economic Security, which oversees Child Protective
Services, was asked what he would say to legislators who are critical of
his agency.
CPS has been under intense scrutiny after two children died, and a third
is presumed to have died, under the agency's watch.
Deibert tried to do what a lot of officials try: Compare what his agency
does to what the reporters in the room do.
"I can read the newspaper every day and find typographical errors," he
said. "I can find misquotes. I can find errors in what you all do, but
I'm sure you strive for perfection and have processes in place to try to
make yourself more perfect. We do the same thing. We're dealing with
human beings, and human beings, at times, are unpredictable."
State Rep. Jonathan Paton, the Tucson Republican who is calling for
changes at CPS, didn't care for the comparison.
"You can fix typos," he said. "But there's no way for you to fix three
dead kids, and to compare the two diminishes these kids as human beings."
Deibert, calling Paton's criticisms "incredibly incredulous," said he
was not trying to equate the two. "It's an analogy," he said. "I was
talking to a group of reporters. ... In no way was I ever trying to make
the comparison that the death of a child is no worse than you guys
making a typographical error. That's absurd."

CURRENTLY CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES VIOLATES MORE CIVIL RIGHTS ON A
DAILY BASIS THEN ALL OTHER AGENCIES COMBINED INCLUDING THE NSA / CIA
WIRETAPPING PROGRAM....

CPS Does not protect children...
It is sickening how many children are subject to abuse, neglect and even
killed at the hands of Child Protective Services.

every parent should read this .pdf from
connecticut dcf watch...

BE SURE TO FIND OUT WHERE YOUR CANDIDATES STANDS ON THE ISSUE OF
REFORMING OR ABOLISHING CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES ("MAKE YOUR CANDIDATES
TAKE A STAND ON THIS ISSUE.") THEN REMEMBER TO VOTE ACCORDINGLY IF THEY
ARE "FAMILY UNFRIENDLY" IN THE NEXT ELECTION...
