Your conclusion applies to the exclusive homosexual and the exclusive hetrosexual. The that fall in the middle may have options, that is, a choice. bobb And did you read my response to that post? There is absolutely NO indication that sexual orientation falls along a bell curve. What research is there indicates a "J" curve, with same-sex orientation at the short end of the J, bisexuality at the lowest part of the J, and heterosexuality at the top end of the J. The "Bell Curve" theory, as far as I can tell, is something you made up out of thin air. -- Children won't care how much you know until they know how much you care The J curve suggests a greater population of hetrosexuality as opposed to homosexualtiy. It does not detract from the bell curve, and if anything, it lends credibility... only the numbers are in dispute. The rest remain the much the same. bobb |

You are claiming that the majority of people are bisexual, because sexuality lies on a bell curve. I'm telling you that it falls on a J curve, that there IS no bell curve for human sexuality (not all things in life fall on a bell curve!), and that, according to the numbers *I've* seen, there are very few people who are totally bisexual. The lowest point of the J curve is bisexuals -- it shows that there IS no bell shaped curve in this case. -- Children won't care how much you know until they know how much you care |

The J curve suggests a greater population of hetrosexuality as opposed to homosexualtiy. It does not detract from the bell curve, and if anything, it lends credibility... only the numbers are in dispute. The rest remain the much the same. bobb The whole point of a bell curve, where it is applicable, is to indicate that *most* of the population falls in the middle and small percentages fall at the ends. That's why it looks like a bell. Low ends = small numbers, high middle bulge = greater numbers. The bell curve *exists* to show number trends. When you say, "only the numbers are in dispute" - - well, the numbers are the whole point of the bell curve, its only purpose! The J curve is like an upside-down, stretched-out-at one-end bell curve: in other words, it represents the COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what a bell curve would indicate. Not only does the J curve not lend credibility to your bell curve argument, it outright contradicts it. Melania |

Be careful, depending on the scale, some bell curves can
look rather phallic! |
