I think I better start writing letters again before we go (I'm
contemplating doing the trip out alone next Christmas, when DS will be
~8 months, will have DH with me on the return).

I would certainly do some investigation. The annoying thing is I checked to
make sure the seat was ok to take on the plane (and I checked again at the
ticketing issue bit) but I didn't ask if the seat could stay permanently on
the airline seat or if it had to be removed at landing and take off. (Never
thought to ask) Be very specific when you ask about the car seat.

I will write to both them and JAL about it, I think. Its not like I
don't have lots of time
