I can *so* relate. Jenrose --who is going as a scary pregnant woman. Oh hell. Let's not kid each other. I'm not going anywhere. I probably won't even answer the door. |

HAHAHA! I'm not dressing up either, or venturing out (although if I were
still in Santa Cruz, I'd go downtown to observe the biggest party of the year... Halloween's bigger than Christmas in that town!). One of my friends suggested that I be a Trouble game and paint my belly like that plastic ball with the dice. :P Em baby boy, due Nov. 18 |

Except during earthquakes, Santa Cruz, CA has to be one of the best places

Except during earthquakes, Santa Cruz, CA has to be one of the best
places on earth to live. Todd I *loved* it and was sad to move... Not too psyched about the earthquakes, but hey -- after what happened in FL this fall, I've decided that there really isn't a 'safe' place to live anyway! Em baby boy, due Nov. 18 |

Not too psyched about the earthquakes, but hey -- after what happened in FL this fall, I've decided that there really isn't a 'safe' place to live anyway! Good point, Em... The 89 earthquake threw me down to the ground onto my elbows - with my son in my arms. I watched the asphalt driveway heave with incredible waves running through it. The redwoods shook like bushes. A trailer got hurled up against a tree nearby. After the quake, my wife and I couldn't believe how high the mark was on the tree. Old buildings in Santa Cruz were rubble - or condemned. It's mostly built back up now though. Todd PS I just thought of something. The mark the trailer left high on the tree was the only good evidence that the asphalt driveway had been heaving like that. Very few cracks that I can remember - but it was a newly done driveway I think. No doubt the ground I was on was heaving too - and my eye was at ground level - so that accentuated it too - plus I suppose the waves I saw in the driveway get bigger as the years pass. : ) Actually, Santa Cruz is a pretty cool place to live even during - and after - earthquakes. Very friendly place. Em baby boy, due Nov. 18 |
