Default weight/height at a year

Well, got DS weighed and measured today at health unit.
at 2 days shy of a year, he weighed (dressed in cloth diapy, shorts and
T) 19lbs 11oz and is 28 inches tall (roughly, he liked their mobile)
Looks on my charts like he's dropped another 'centile curve and is
approaching the 3rd percentile line. Haven't done head circ nor checked
length on the chart (hard to put him to bed tonight....)
Still looks fine, lean, but not skinny. I'm tall and fairly slim, DS's
dad is slight. i'm assuming things are ok, but wouldn't mind a few BTDT
posts, or suggestions if this seems off to anyone.

And for those missing 4 oz, I think he's gonna get an extra serving of
dinner and face forward for his birthday present..... :-)

DD is 8360 g (18 lbs 7 oz ) at 1 year and a bit .... but I know that rates
slightly higher on the percentile charts (roughly 10%) as girls are smaller
than boys on average.
With the height thing, the clinic nurse told be that their "height" is
usually shorter than their "length" (ie measured lying down) when I remarked
that DD had "shrunk" from 77 cm to 74 cm when she was measured for "height"
instead of length ..... something to do with posture she said. The other
thing that she said was that size charts were based on a population that was
largely formula fed, and that bf babies tend towards strong early weight
gain but are generally lighter than their peers at the age of 1.
My *Mum* says that she spent the last few years as a teacher trying to
encourage children to eat healthy food and get plenty of exercise. She
notes the increasing levels of obesity in children ..... "so" she says "why
are you worrying if she's healthy and growing OK".
I reassure myself with the fact that she is growing and is healthy and
active and alert and intelligent.... and cute and gorgeous and beautiful and
loving. She's a bit thin but she's as healthy as can be.

/raises her hand

DS was 18 lbs. 3 oz. and 29 inches at 1 year; he's still terribly slender,
but we have no worries. He continues to grow and he's meeting all his
milestones. The only bummer was that we had to wait so long to turn his car
seat around--he was around 17 months before he made it to 20 lbs.

And now DD is only 4.5 months and is approaching 17 lbs. Genetics is funny
stuff.
