Default Falling in love

This is the strangest thing that's ever happened to me. I'm certain moms
will understand and maybe even shrug and say "it's normal", but I find the
experience fascinating yet unsettling.

I am now at the end of my 16th week, and since Monday I have been feeling my
baby moving inside me. "There's someone in my belly", is what I am now
saying instead of "I'm pregnant".

Since then, I find myself with a stupid smile more and more often, but
that's not the strangest thing. I also often feel these surges of pure
pleasure swelling my belly, my lungs, my heart, along with these little
butterflies in my stomach. I tried to pinpoint the feeling, and I found only
one wonderful explanation: I am falling in love! Falling in love with my
baby, only 16 weeks into conception, utterly and blindly, not knowing baby's
gender, baby's looks, nothing. Nothing but this wonderful feeling...

It is exhilarating.

Isn't it wonderful? I used to feel like I had the
best secret on earth. Here I was, fixing bugs,
going to meetings, and there was this person
sending me secret messages every now and
then by moving around, turning, kicking... The
feeling was made stronger when we heard the
heartbeat on the Doppler... It was like, holy
cow, that's not MY heartbeat. It's his!

It probably is normal - and I know exactly what you're talking about. At
some point, she became an individual to me. It was wonderful and terrifying
at the same time.

Enjoy the feeling; it's an amazing time. :-)

This feeling is even more intense AFTER your baby arrives. Of course, with
me it took a few weeks, but I AM in love.

Oh yeah. I remember that. It's lovely. There's nothing like being
pregnant. Enjoy!
