Default bi weekly OB appts

I am 30 wks along, and this Monday I start having appts every 2 weeks
instead of every month. I was just wondering what to expect. Is it
still the quickie get the heartbeat, measure the fundal ht, weight,
blood pressure and how are you feeling kind of thing, or is there more?
In people's experiences, when do they typically want to to vaginal
exams, i would imagine that would be much later, if at all. Just
curious!

I guess most here would think I was lucky but I never had an internal exam
done until I was in labor and then I think they only did 2. The nurses kept
saying I look like I am X dialeted by my behavior.

I didn't start having vaginal exams to check dialation until I started
weekly appointments at 36 weeks. Otherwise the bi-monthly appointments,
if they're like mine, will just measure your weight, blood pressure,
fundal height, and baby's heartbeat if your pregnancy is normal.

Same here. I am 31 weeks now with 2nd child. Currently going bi-weekly to
appointments wont start getting vaginal exams until I was 36 weeks.

Nope, generally the same kind of thing.

It varies with provider, but it's not necessary
at all under normal circumstances, so feel free to Just
Say No. It doesn't give you any actionable information
under normal circumstances, but it can provide information
that will be inappropriately acted upon ;-)

Best wishes,

Pretty much the same thing.

My provider would have started at 36 weeks, but I declined and didn't
have an internal exam until I was already in labor at 39 weeks.

Biweekly exams are really quick. Just what you outline above. As for
internal exams, they only start doing them (iirc) in the last week or so.
Remember, like nearly everything, you can always decline them.

That's weird, I'm about 33 weeks and don't go every 2 weeks yet.

Anyway, sounds about right except I'll be having an internal exam at my next
appointment - yuck. Apparently they have a new rule of doing more STD
testing/paps, no idea why.

I have c-sections so I don't have internal exams later to check if I'm
dilating or anything.
