Default recovery after tubal

How long does it take to recover after getting tubal done? I don't
want to have my delivery and this at the same time. So if I plan to
get it done at sometime in future when I'm all recovered and back to
normal, how long can I expect to take off from work for recovery? How
hard is this exactly?

Thanks.

Hey girl-

I am looking into surgical sterilization, as well. What I've found is that
recovery depends entirely on the method of tubal ligation you use. For
example, if you get the ligation done laparoscopically (which is most common
around here where I live in the US), it's done as an office procedure, and
recovery consists of putting a band-aid on your belly button and maybe
resting for the rest of the day. There is another method, newer, which
involves placing something that looks like a spring, into each fallopian
tube. The item will block the tubes (once the tissue grows into it) in
about a month. This, too, is an office procedure.

I don't know what the common method of tubal ligation is where you are, but
the current procedures are very minor, outpatient procedures, along the
lines of a pap-smear-from-hell. It shouldn't be a big deal. I don't know
how often tubals require abdominal surgery anymore.

Hope that helps!

Donna
