Default Thrush diaper rash?

I'm at the end of a course of antibiotics for a sinus infection. P,
over the last two days, has had horrendous diaper rash. Worst he's ever
had, easily. I'm connecting the two, but not sure if it really is or
not. Also, he's getting a mild itch rash on his chest. We're not having
anything new in foods, and I'm feeling fine, no symptoms here.

Age of child and mother?

Sorry, this was supposed to be posted in mkb (now it is). But I'm 32,
he's 2.

I am concerned that the rash could be related to antibiotics. What
antibiotic are you and he on? (implication: you're not the only one getting
the antibiotic.) Did t he doctor know you were nursing?

Yes, the doc knew. He made sure to find an antibiotic that wouldn't be
a huge dose on P. As well, he told me to look out for thrush (his wife
and son are battling it now). I don't know the name of the anti...it's
in the house, and it's icy between here and there :-).

We ran out of soy yogurt (I'm getting more tomorrow), but any other
ideas of what it might be? Or what else I could try? We're keeping him
slathered in Burt's Bee's diaper cream, then a coat of pet jelly. And
we let him run around with nothing on, airing out.

You don't describe his rash. I would call the doc's office, describe both
rashes and also tell them what antibiotic the two of you are taking.

We're going to try to get an appt with them this morning, before I go
off-island. They open in an hour.

The chest rash is small raised bumps, the area is consistently red, but
not raised. He digs at it. I put on some non-steroidal anti-itch
cream, and it helps the itch, but the rash doesn't go away.

The diaper rash, well. It's angry red, and stings when we wipe, but no
craters or blood.

[rest of my post kept in for mkb]
Any and all ideas welcome! I'm going off-island tomorrow to a real
supermarket, so if I get replies early enough, I can pick the stuff up
:-).
