I'm back and feeling much better.
To cut a long story short, I did find a midwife, Melody, with whom I'm very happy. She's calm, confident, competent, and well informed both about diabetes and VBACs. Neither of these issues she considers any big deal. So all is sorted for a home birth. That's not what I had planned, but it's the way things have worked out, and I'm happy with it. So the plan is to manage as much of my labour at home as possible. If things go well, then we'll stay at home. In the event of a problem, we'll transfer to hospital. I can face doing that, since I'll have Melody as an ally. Yesterday she said the head was 4/5 engaged. That is very encouraging; it is already more progress than I made last time (head never engaged at all). I've been having to break out the tens machine to get some relief from an intermittent throbbing lower back pain. I have no idea if this is a sign of something happening or not. I hope not, not until tomorrow at least, because that's when the birth pool arrives. So... two weeks to go. Yikes. I'm having another baby. What the bloody hell have I done? I must be bonkers. -- Mogget |

My hospital VBAC was lovely, primarily because I had a very strong ally in my doula. It made all the difference. So... two weeks to go. Yikes. I'm having another baby. What the bloody hell have I done? I must be bonkers. DD2 is now 18 monts old, and I'm still saying this to myself! Best of luck, Mary W. |

I'm not saying it is, but with #1 I was thinking I had intermittent back/period type pain, then timed it and found it lasted 20-30 seconds every 5 to 6 minutes, which became evident they were early contractions (although it was another 30 hours before #1 struggled out so I wouldn't go rushing off yet) :-) So... two weeks to go. Yikes. I'm having another baby. What the bloody hell have I done? I must be bonkers. I remember the feeling... Debbie |

writes Oh, I'm so glad to hear you have things figured out. I hope it all goes well and you get the birth you want. Thank you :-) Yes I hope too that it all goes easily, but even if it doesn't, even if it's a tough birth, it could still be a positive experience. It doesn't have to be a HWBAC for it to be a million times better than last time. As long as I'm consulted & supported and not butchered, maimed & left in agony, then in a way it will be the birth I want, even if it does end up another C-section. -- Mogget |

Maybe you are in early labour, if you are using the TENS machine? Well hope that birth pool arrives soon. Looking forward to your story. Elle |
