So I have got to ask, what is top-posting? I want to make sure that I don't
do it :-)

This is top posting. I'm adding my two cents at the top of your post,
rather than below your original post. My e-mail program automatically puts
my responses at the top, so I tend to top post a lot, even thought I know
that it's "bad form." For me to correctly bottom post, I have to hit reply,
then highlight and cut my sig line and move it to the bottom of the post,
THEN write my response. I don't always have time or remember to do that,
hence, I top post a lot.

This is the correct form of bottom posting. It makes threads much easier to
read, since you can start at the top and go down in chronological and
natural conversation order. Things make sense.

Reason #1 as to why I love my sig so much

--
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet?

I downloaded this easy program that fixes that. 'OE Quotefix' It is free,
or at least it was when I downloaded it. It does a few other things but the
main one is that it puts your signature and curser at the end of the post.
What a blessing!!

The problem with this example is that it assumes you have not read
the 3 previous posts when you get to the 4th. This is often not
the case.

Oooh! I just downloaded it, and it worked... It still put the cursor at
the top of the page, but my sig line was at the bottom. I had to open
Outlook Express, and then open QuoteFix separetly, which I'm not sure I
love...but will give it a try. Overall, I'm pretty resistant to
change...but I'll see how it goes! Once I get used to it, it should be
good. I think it would be easier if it was automatically opened when I
opened OE, but may be workable!

Thanks Nikki!

Fiddle around with that because mine does automatically open. Maybe it is a
feature or option you can click somewhere? I don't even no how to open OE
without the quote fix just being part of it.

After you install it, it goes into the program files under the start button.
When you look under Quotefix, it has a button for Outlook Express with
Quotefix...click that instead of you outlook express icon and it opens it up
together. I always set mine in the startup and when I restart my computer,
it starts it automatically.
