Wow, antenatal mastitis, that's rough. I never knew that could even
happen!

If it's so excessive, I suppose there's always the ol'
cabbage-in-the-bra trick, though of course you don't want to take it
too far because you're going to WANT the milk in a few weeks. Tough
call, and I feel for you. Good luck!

I would suggest: just pump a small amount of milk
each time. Just enough to relieve the pressure.
Maybe only a few drops, if you can get away with
that. (Or, gradually reduce the amount you pump.)
The key is to find a balance between the level of discomfort
and danger of mastitis on one hand, and the possibility
of producing ever larger and larger amounts of milk
on the other hand. The ideal amount of pumping
may involve leaving a small amount of discomfort at times.

That's just my idea of what I would probably do.
I don't actually know what's best for you.

Hi all

I haven't posted for a while, as I still have no one to feed as yet

My milk came in when I was 6 months pg... since then i have either hand
expressed or used a pump when I have had lots.

However, in the last 24 hours, my supply has gone nuts.I am up at 1.30 am as
I have so much milk, it just won't stop coming out, and I am uncomfy... I
haven't increased/decreased how much i expressed. Does this mean my baby
will arrive soon? Or have I just become a total dairy fairy? I am 37
weeks pregnant.

Thank you

Lucy

Thanks Doc was surprised at the mastitis too, antibiotics were the only
cure, as I couldn't "express it out". Oh well, it's gone now, so I can be
happy again )

I'm going to bring it up to my Dr tomorrow, and ask him what I should
be doing, and I'll bring up some 'but what if I were this way?'
questions, just to see what he says. Although I dont suggest taking
mine/my Dr's advice, without first consulting yours.

Just a bit of a heads up on that matter. Best of wishes to you!

Quoting who you're responding to is useful; hopefully someone here can tell
you how to quote through Googlegroups if you don't have a newsreader program
like Outlook Express.

What are you talking about? And who asked you anyways? For your
information, I have Outlook Express, I couldn't check my work email
without it. And I think I have been doing just fine with how I am
working Google Groups. I get my point across, ask my questions, and get
them answered. Isn't that what counts?

As for the rest of my friends. The Dr apt went welll. Everything is how
it's supposed to be at 23.5 weeks, He has a good heart-rate, and very
active. (YEAH!!) There was only one problem... My sugar was lower than
140, but only by like 20. My Iron on the other hand, was supposed to be
14.5.... Mine was a 9.2. He reasured me that your Iron count tends to
lower when your pregnant, and it's nothing to worry about. I just have
to take an Iron supplement now. Other than that, I'm A-OK and so is
Seth.

I asked about the milk situation, he said it's perfectly normal, and
expressing it will not affect me(you) or the baby in any way. I will
still be able to produce the same amount when he comes out. My(our)
hormones have just caused our bodies to create and express milk before
the actual time comes.

I found out what the strange pain in my right side was, that only
happened at night. LOL, I could have guessed this but didn't think of
it. My ribs are spreading because he sits really high, and towards the
front. I asked why it was only my right side, and never my left...
Because your stomach and liver are on the right side, and theres no
more room for them to be pushed up. If anybody else was having that
same problem, hopefully that helped! And, I feel for you... it's
painful!!

Have a great day everyone! Talk to you soon!

If you ask a question in reference to someone else's post or something
brings up another question and you don't bother quoting, it could be hard
for people here to dredge up what you're talking about.

Then read the whole conversation. Everybody else seems to know whats
going on. Try not to nit-pick on me. I'm new... remember?

She's not nit-picking. It's standard Usenet ettiquette.

Then tell me why nobody else has gave me any crap about it? I think
thats the real ettiquette there. Not to judge someone who just started
at this whole thing, just looking to get good advice and make new
friends while going through one of the biggest changes in life. In my
oppinion, I think I have been doing just fine with how I 'quote' and
'respond' to people on this site, and apparently, have got my point
across to more than enough people. Don'tcha think?
