this can't be true...
I just thought I would spread this little bit of information, but I'm
not sure if I believe it or not... My husband was watching the news the other morning while we were getting ready for work. They usually have a topic for preg mom's and expecting daddy's, mostly about dieting, and nutrition, sleep patterns etc... This particular topic was about 'stress durring pregnancy' which, I have found out there is plenty to go around with all of these hormones and such. I don't pay much attention to the tv while getting ready, and I wish I would have this time. My husband stated to me while I was unloading the dishwasher, that the news said that pregnant women who stress more durring their pregnancy, have smarter babies. Could that really be true? I wish I would have been paying attention so I knew more about it, but I didn't. Sorry, I also looked for a news heading on the net for something of the same sort, and didn't find anything. Ash |

My dh gives in to me on everything (not that I'm demanding) so that I don't stress. Geez. Stasya |

Stasya I've been trying to stay stress free, although my job, and most of my daily activites are high-risk environments. I try 'pampering' myself every once in a while, and have even taken up croche as a hobbie (im making a little blanket) and as something to help me bond with my unborn son. As for the noise, I was told by my Dr not to worry about it. Many of my friends, and co-workers have even told me... don't be quiet when you think he's sleeping, because when he's born, he'll be adapted to sleep though anything. I believe this to be true, because my cousin did this, and her baby sleeps though the vaccume and the tv! It's also kinda hard for me to try to get him in a normal sleeping pattern, because I don't even have one! I work night shifts, and usually don't get home and roll into bed till around 12:30-1:00AM. I'm up with my hubby around 7:30AM while he gets ready for work and take an hour nap around 2:00PM before going back to work at 5:00PM. On top of the noise and sleeping patterns, I have 2 dogs, not little dogs either, who bark and demand attention. A 5 year old nephew that comes over every weekend (we are taking care of his hermit crab) who loves to sit on the sofa with me, and feel the baby kick. I'm not very far along, only 22 weeks now (definite boy) and still only look as if I ate way too much for dinner! I have only gained 10lbs and trust me... my food consumption has nearly doubled! Is that unhealthy or am I on schedule? Ash |

Ash Well, I have no idea if it's true or not... But, if it is true, then I guess that DD is going to be an absolute GENIUS, based on all the stress I had while pg with her... EVERYTHING from normal every day stresses to extra, unnecessary stresses caused by others... Haha if only this were true facts that I've heard of lol |

Ash Living in Salt Lake City, Utah, I'd take news like that with a grain of salt, but maybe this is what he heard: http://www.ivanhoe.com/channels/p_ch...?storyid=13752 A study of only 137 women is hardly indicative of pregnant women in general. |

Thanks for that. I couldn't find anything that had to do with that. I know that alot of the things said here in this state are mainly related to the high popularity of the religion, I don't want to start a tiff with someone who might be part of it, but I am a move in, and so is my husband. I'm more than positive that what he heard, would have been on one of the local news programs, although I can't recall which one. But thanks for the input, I just wanted to see if anybody else had heard that except him. |

This could be what they were reporting on:
http://www.brightsurf.com/news/headl...rticleID=24459 Which seems to be related to that Child Development article C pointed out. The consensus seems to be mild to moderate stress helps development, high stress has negative results. So no geniuses resulting from being stressed out of your brain. Only when you experience adaptive levels of stress do you get the Einstein factor! "ipinchibite" wrote in message oups.com... Is that unhealthy or am I on schedule? Ash Hi Ash I couldn't find much in the way of conclusive evidence either way regarding stress. However, my sis-in-law lives with my noisy brother, and their 3yo and newborn sleep through everything, so I guess it's good to get some noise in around you. As for weight, I've had horrible morning sickness all the way through this pregnancy, and I am only just beginning to weigh what I did pre-pg (at 38 weeks) so I wouldn't worry about weight - my midwife hasn't weighed me at all so far, and I don't think they do so much now as it doesn't seem to have much bearing on the weight/health of your baby, especially given as diet/fitness has such different effects on different people. I'd just tend to keep an eye on it and mention it to your doc/MW if it's a concern to you. Lucy -- Due with a little girl 15.06.06 http://lucys-pregnancy.tripod.com/ |
