Beware of bushwhackers when discussing amalgam toxicity ....... they
come out of the woodwork and almost make it seem true!

Once the crown covers the amalgam, is all well again?

Thanks

It's like this. Almost any dentist will tell you that amalgam (and
mercury) is completely harmless. Any toxicologist will tell you it is
extremely dangerous in the same league as uranium. I think it'd be best to
avoid having dentistry involving amalgam while pregnant or breastfeeding,
and to avoid inhaling any air that has circulated around the mouth.

Ask the toxicologist if the word dosage rings any bells. If not, find another
toxicologist.

Good thought about toxicologist. Is that the same as an
alt.health.care.provider?

While I certainly agree, this gets into a no-win situation from the
dentist standpoint.

If there are 'concerns' about breast feeding and amalgams with this
patient, anything that happens 'post amalgam' with the child will be
related to the dental treatment.

Use a rubber dam while removing the any old amalgam and do a build up
with composite (I personally feel you have a stronger tooth anyway).

Or just find a Cerec dentist and skip the build up altogether G.

If you are not into religious interpretations of mercury illnesses, then
don't worry about it. If you happen to believe all the holistic doctors who
want to blame real problems on imagined causes, then we cannot really
convince you anyway.

I do not believe getting the amalgam restoration will harm you or the child
in the least bit. There are a couple of lay-people who post to this forum
who think it will. If you have an open mind, then hang around and ask more
questions. The topic tends to get tempers flared up so be patient with
other posters.

In a recent study, it was found that 95% of all Prego women will
breast feed. The same study shows only 74% of the Ragu women will do
the same.

The study is strangely silent about the infants who also on occasion
also breast feed.

Well, certainly not while it's being applied, and they shouldn't hold
paint chips in their mouths.

I don't know. The Mom brings groceries to the car. Touches the painted
surfaces while getting her keys out. Maybe even leans against the car with
permeable clothing on. Puts groceries in the arsenic painted trunk, And
closes the trunk while touching the paint. Goes home, does not wash her
hands, but unloads the groceries and touches the paint some more. Don't
forget the groceries were enclosed in an arsenic painted trunk all the way
home. All that arsenic tainted air was stagnated and concentrated on all
that food. She does not wash her hands yet, and grabs a banana and eats it.
I am amazed she does not drop dead right in the kitchen. The groceries then
fill the refrigerator and cupboards with arsenic air from the car trunk.
