Default Strollers, car seats, and other gear, oh my!

Help! I'm registering for my shower and I have no idea what I will need for
twins, let alone for one baby (this is my first pregnancy). Does anyone
have the list of their registry that they could send me, or a list of "must
haves"--even if it's just 2 items it would give me an idea of what people
think it best. Also, where is the best place to register? Any input would be
GREATLY appreciated! : )

I think that BabiesRus is the most convenient place to register at because they
have almost everything. But somewhere like Wal Mart is more reasonable. You
will have to decide what is more important.
We got the graco duo glider with infant carrier/car seats. It was cheaper at
Walmart but we got it at Toys R us because they had three different colors to
choose from.
We got a pack and play with the bassinet/changing table. My advise if you are
getting this is to make sure that the bassinett is the full length of the pack
and play. Ours was only three quarters and it was a tight fit once they got a
little bigger.
We got a Diaper Genie and I hated that darn thing. It was expensive and more
hassle than it was worth, emptying and replacing the bag was like rocket
science. We ended up just getting an odor sealed diaper pail and giving the
genie away.
We only used on crib for some time so I would recommend only getting and
putting up one crib for now. Unless you would rather be prepared in the event
you don't want to put them in the same crib.
We did not use a changing table because we had the one on the bassinet ... we
usually changed them on the crib with the rail down anyhow.
Several sheets for bassinet and crib and mattress cover.
We had a Diaper station that I really recommend it came in handy. It was clear
plastic and it latched on to the side of the crib and you could stick diapers
and wipes and alcohol cleaning the naval. It was nice to have it all at arms
reach when changing them.
Listen, above all else the thing I was most grateful for were diapers. If any
one asked what my "theme" was for the nursery I told them diapers. I wasn't
interested in the cutsey stuffed animals or clothes. We didn't have to buy
diapers for about two-three months, and it was such a great help! But then
again, this is your first preg. so you may want some of that stuff, I already
had all of Alexis' cutsey stuff and clothes coming out of our ears. I have
noticed that people LOVE to give clothes to twins. They just can't get enough
of it. I don't have a preference of hem dressing alike or not. Sometimes they
dress alike sometimes they don't. But if it is something that you have a
preference of I would get that across to those buying gifts for you.
I am sorry I cant think of more things right now. I will email you if I do.

Hi Beth,

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

I would say the following: 2 swings, 2 high chairs, your car seats (you'll
have to shop around and pick), your stroller, 2 vibrating bouncy seats, and I
agree with Kim that diapers are an awesome gift. You absolutely will not
believe how many you go through and how expensive it gets. I also LOVED the
idea of Wal-mart/Target gift cards to be used for diapers or whatever else
you'll need that you didn't receive.

Babies R Us, Target or Wal-Mart would all be good choices for a registry.
Maybe they have a twin registry at a store that you could look at??

Good luck,

Ellen

Definetly 2 bouncy seats, actually Fisher Price has a new baby Papasan
that looks awesome! If room is an issue, you can get by with 1 swing, we
did and it worked out fine. The Pack N Play with the full bassinet is
great. Mine slept in that together at G-ma's all the time. 2 high
chairs. Really, really research your stroller. I have heard good and bad
about the Duo Glide. It's a plus that both carsetas snap into it. But,
it is REALLY big and bulky to push around. The double Snap N Go is
easier in my opinion. We got the Diaper Champ and love it, no special
bags are needed. I agree, you will be bombarded with clothes and
hopefully diapers. I think you'd get better advice here than from a "to
be" Mom's twin registry. We know what you really need!

Oh and I think Target is way better than BRU for some things. I love
their Amy Coe (I think) line of bedding.

Hmm...you got great ideas already. The only things I could add would be minor
to most.

For example, we got a FP play mat that was the theme of farm animals. It was
only maybe 4 feet long and 2 feet wide. It had two foam bars that created two
arcs above it holding a few plush toys by velcro. It could then be "velcroed"
(?) into a barn. It was perfect for two babies to lay on at each end and
enjoy. This darn thing got more use than bouncie seats or anything at our
home.

Baby Einstein videos and flashcards were HUGE for both girls.

Lastly, if your family could politely "hint" when asked what you might like
(since you couldn't register for this), how about gift certificates to take
out/delivery restaurants and/or home-cooked meals. Trust me, these were among
the best gifts we rec'd. Then again, you can tell I'm a food lover

HTH and have fun! I loved registering, showers, and all the excitement.
Enjoy!

I must have the only twins that hated the bouncy seats - in fact I just sold
them on e-bay because they were taking up too much room. But swings ... now
there's another matter. We originally had one Graco swing but because they
both like it so much we purchased a fisher price foldaway swing as that
doesn't take up too much room and is handy for taking to G/parents etc.
Although bouncy seats would have made feeding easier ))
