Default Thanksgiving is boring

I try to get into the spirit of the thing but it just seems impossible.
I don't hate the relatives but they are such a bore to be with.

Hey, part of the good thing about being an adult and a parent is that
you do get to invent NEW traditions. Shake things up. Do something
different! Host the dinner yourself, come up with some new combination
or permutation of guests, widen the circle to include friends, try a
big buffet instead of a sit down dinner, combine it with a home video
evening...whatever.

If you end up bored, it will be your own darned fault.
