So the munchkin will soon be 3, and we finished breastfeeding about 2 weeks
ago. I actually figured I'd be finished producing milk by now, but not a
chance, last night I was actually so uncomfortable I had to express some to
relieve the discomfort. How much longer can I expect to be producing milk,
any idea?

Thanks for any help
Heather.

try not to express as it should help send the signals that you don't
need the milk, however it can still be up to a year that you produce
some milk, I stopped bfing 10 months ago and I still have milk, not
enough to cause discomfort, though from time to time I've had a bruised
feeling as if there is some back up. I asked my LLL leader how long it
was normal to carry on producing some and she said up to a year.

Oh wow, a year, that's a long time, longer than I was really thinking I'd
actually like to be close to having another by then.

I was really trying not to express last night, but I was so uncomfortable
that I just had to do something.

Thanks
Heather

It varies a lot. For some women milk production seems to last a long
time for others a short time.

If you get pregnant, things may be very different than they would be
without pregnancy. It may mean that your milk production will stop
very quickly, though a few women find they leak milk during pregnancy,
even if they never lactated before pregnancy.

I don't know about *producing," but i could get a drop (evidence) of
milk for a whole year afterward.
