Help Needed in Missouri
Hello All,
My wife suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and also collects a minimal amount of child support from her ex-husband. Her son, my stepson, turns 18 years old this month but still will be attending high school this coming year as well as attending college after that. When his father paid this months child support, he mentioned that this was "the last one". Isn't he obligated to pay child support until he has finished high school, or perhaps all the way through college? Can anyone direct me to any online sources of information where I can get some clarification? I would be interested in finding out exactly what Missouri's laws are regarding this. Any help would be appreciated. One other foot note, as my wife's MS has progressed fairly rapidly, I recently obtained a power of attorney so that I am able to make legal decisions for her. Would this entitle me to contact Missouri Social Services on her behalf? Thanks for any and all input/advice/help. Milhouse |
