Olympia WA: DSHS Unfixable 'system' must be replaced...
Unfixable 'system' must be replaced
http://www.heraldnet.com/article/200...ON02/708030335 Regarding the Thursday article, "Changes sought to protect children": According to Robin Arnold-Williams, the head of the Department of Social and Health Services, "the system failed this child." Her statement, which shows a brilliant grasp of the blindingly obvious, would be insightful if it were not for the fact that there is no system. DSHS is nothing more than a colossal display of incredible failure, time after tragic time. Stories abound constantly of DSHS failures. The indignant response of the governor, the secretary and the head of CPS, Cheryl Stephani, are prompted only by the outrage that is growing by the day both in print and over the airwaves. This "system" cannot be fixed. It must be replaced. However, that would require definitive action by the Legislature. It seems that the only definitive action our elected representatives in Olympia can muster is to increase our taxes. Positive results are not necessary as long as legislators can point to what wonderful bills they have "fought for." Only we, the general public, can begin the demolition and rebuilding of DSHS by not sending the same people to Olympia over and over again. These folks are obviously not up to the task they so eagerly seek every two and four years. All we will get with the current Olympia denizens is more of the same and money spent on yet another "review" by a blue ribbon task force, also populated by the same group of so-called experts. People who consistently get it wrong cannot, now, get it right. If we threw everyone out next election and sent all new people to Olympia, we could not possibly be any worse off than we are now. How many more children must be sacrificed by this gross and consistent failure of management? CURRENTLY CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES VIOLATES MORE CIVIL RIGHTS ON A DAILY BASIS THEN ALL OTHER AGENCIES COMBINED INCLUDING THE NSA / CIA WIRETAPPING PROGRAM.... CPS Does not protect children... It is sickening how many children are subject to abuse, neglect and even killed at the hands of Child Protective Services. every parent should read this .pdf from connecticut dcf watch... http://www.connecticutdcfwatch.com/8x11.pdf http://www.connecticutdcfwatch.com Number of Cases per 100,000 children in the US These numbers come from The National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect in Washington. (NCCAN) Recent numbers have increased significantly for CPS *Perpetrators of Maltreatment* Physical Abuse CPS 160, Parents 59 Sexual Abuse CPS 112, Parents 13 Neglect CPS 410, Parents 241 Medical Neglect CPS 14 Parents 12 Fatalities CPS 6.4, Parents 1.5 CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES, HAPPILY DESTROYING HUNDREDS OF INNOCENT FAMILIES YEARLY NATIONWIDE AND COMING TO YOU'RE HOME SOON... BE SURE TO FIND OUT WHERE YOUR CANDIDATES STANDS ON THE ISSUE OF REFORMING OR ABOLISHING CHILD PROTECTIVE SERVICES ("MAKE YOUR CANDIDATES TAKE A STAND ON THIS ISSUE.") THEN REMEMBER TO VOTE ACCORDINGLY IF THEY ARE "FAMILY UNFRIENDLY" IN THE NEXT ELECTION... |
