LOL Colleen is as American as they get, I've never heard of an Irish

girl
with the name, only Irish-Americans.

Well, Colleen is more so an Irish-American name but I have come across Irish
girls named Colleen. My scout teacher's dd was Colleen and a knew one in
college too. I happen to think it is a lovely name.

Isn't that how Patrick is now? Friends tell me the only Irish men with

that
name are old.

That's rubbish IMO, I know plenty of Patricks of all generations here in
Ireland. Granted it wouldn't be as popular as it was 30-50 years ago but
there are quite a few kid Patrick's about. It's kind of having a bit of a
popularity surge, a bit like Molly.

shrug My surname isn't Irish (it's anglicised German) but I have no

Me either. I don't have any heartburn over mixing
names from different backgrounds. I do have a thing about
the names sounding good together (whatever that means! ;-)
but they don't necessarily have to be ethnically consistent
to me.

They kind of better not have to be for me, we've got a very Dutch
surname but I can't see us using typically Dutch first names for our
kids. In fact we have a Scottish boy, an anglicised Welsh boy and an
anglicised Irish girl.
