Default Would you shoot to protect your family?

Situation-Question:

You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two
small children. Suddenly, a dangerous looking man with a huge
knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams
obscenities, raises the knife, and charges. You are carrying a
Glock .40 and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds
before he reaches you and your family. What do you do?

Liberal Answer:

"Well, that's not enough information to answer the question!"

"Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done
anything to him that would inspire him to attack?"

"Could we run away? What does my wife think?"

"Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the
knife out of his hand?"

"What does the law say about this situation?"

"Does the Glock have an appropriate safety built into it?"

"Why am I carrying a loaded gun and what kind of message does
this send to society and my child!"

"Is it possible he'd be happy with just killing me?"

"Does he definitely want to kill me, or would he just be
content to wound me?"

"If I were to grab his knees and hold on, could my family get
away while he was stabbing me?"

"This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some
friends for a few days to try to come to a conclusion."

Conservative Answer:
BANG!

Texan's Answer:
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click...
(sounds of reloading).

Wife: "Sweetheart, he looks like he's still moving, what do
you kids think?"

Son: "Mom's right Dad, I saw it too..."

BANG! BANG! BANG! ! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! click.
Daughter: "Nice group, Daddy! Were those the Winchester
Silver Tips?"

Well, if you are stupid enough to get yourself in this situation, I, as the
very liberal wife, would shoot if my husband didn't. But he would.

It's telling that what you are fantasizing about here
is not self-defence, but murder.

If the person under attack is, as you say, an "expert
shot," then he ought to be able to disable the
assailant with one, or perhaps two, well-placed
rounds, which might be survivable. Formal police
training, in fact, teaches that the proper procedure
is to discharge two quick rounds, aimed at the area
of largest body mass. With a Glock 40, that should be
sufficient. If not, then subsequent shots are, of
course, permissible.

Your little adolescent fantasy about firing
repeatedly, reloading if necessary, until the
assailant is dead, would generally be seen
as unacceptable to anyone but a member of
the New York City Police Department and would
probably get you charged with murder.

Who said it's a fantasy?

It's just a joke.

No, it's not a joke, stupid. If you think it's a joke, then it's an obvious
indication of how badly you have been ****ed up and your mind is totally
warped. In fact, its far beyond the borders of perversion.

Your capitalist police state have created those who'd offer a dick to other
people's child by calling an "orphan". An if he'd say "I'm not an orphan",
the man will pull out a gun and make him an orphan by shooting his parents.
Than, after adopting him as own child, he'd pull out a dick and say "hey,
son, take my dick"...

That was an old, anti-capitalist-ameri**** joke... Do you see the
difference now?

To protect my family, I'd rip a man to pieces with my bare hands, feed the
remains to wild dogs, and watch as they nourish themselves with the marrow.

What do you think about that?
