One of those Days
I got an email from a good friend this morning - I don't know her in person,
only on e-mail... and I consider her a friend, and respect her for the things she's accomplished. My son brought home his violin today, after his first lesson... and he practiced for me :-) All the homework is done, and son is working on extra-credit work, with a smile. Daughter is reading a new book for her high-lit class. The dishwasher is running, so I'll have clean coffee cups in the morning. My daughter has her first 'date' tomorrow - a school mate invited her to the high school football game - and for the first time in a long time, she's not missing the best friend who moved away quite so much. I wiped down the jars of apple butter that we made from apples we picked last weekend - enough jars to share with a few friends. For today, life is good - my children are happy, healthy (thanks to new allergy meds), and content with our lot in life. We have people we love, who love us. My stepdad, who is terminally ill, is holding his own, at least for now. He and my mom have just that much more time together. Guess I can't ask for a whole lot more than that. The peace I feel tonight, I share with all of you who have gone through the trevails, and emerged victorious at the other side. L'chaim :-) |
