OT introducing solids
Does anybody have any good links about starting to introduce solids? The
twins are just over 5 months old now so I guess it's about time I got some info - I just don't have time to look ) and I caught my MIL trying to stick a piece of celery in my DS mouth the other day. Me and her are gonna have harsh words if she doesn't back off! The good thing was that when she complained to DH that I had told her off he told her it serves her right! She is not BF friendly and has tried to encourage formula from day 1 ... this has not improved our relationship. ( Ellie |

I particularly like the first one. http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/solids/ http://www.childbirth.org/articles/feeding/solids.html The second link is a bit less informative than then first, and it does recommend a flouride supplement after six months, which is something that I don't believe is supported by current data, but other than that, it's a pretty good resource, too. But I like the first one better. and I caught my MIL trying to stick a piece of celery in my DS mouth the other day. Me and her are gonna have harsh words if she doesn't back off! Good lord. It sounds like you and your husband are dealing with this as well as you can. My dad was horrified, basically, by my nursing my daughter. He tried to be ok with it, the sweetie, but I sensed a steady pressure from him during the entire time I was nursing. shrugs I love the guy - doesn't mean he can't be wrong. Our parents are of a different generation, and their ideas are not ours. That's ok Just keep doing what you think is best for your baby. You're the boss mom. Donna |

( no good links, sorry, but I wouldn't worry about the celery, I can't see that without teeth even if they attack it and gnaw on it that they will get anything, either bad or good from it. |

In my opinion that's not the issue. MIL did it without permissions. What will she later do to the kids when the parents are not present. My own MIL is like that and I have not the last 8 years permitted her to spend time alone with them unless someone else were present and promised to keep an eye on her. She can take trips alone with my 11 DD, but not without me saying to DD: Remember to use your wits and don't trust MIL's. They don't work anymore :-) I know I'm a bitch. I don't care. Tine, Denmark |

Completely aside from the "MIL doesn't abide by my wishes" angle, Caterpillar (older, but still toothless) is quite capable of gumming a celery stalk clean of anything but strings. She doesn't always (sometimes it comes back visibly gnawed but intact), but I've also had days where big chunks of celery appear in the next day's diaper. Phoebe |

OT introducing solids
I've nothing against celery, the thing that annoyed me was that she was
actually trying to hide from me whilst doing it so a) she knew I wouldn't be happy and b) did it anyway. I asked her why she didn't breastfeed DH and his brother, particularly as she was working as a health visitor at the time - you can imagine how stunned I was when the reply was "because everyone expected me to breastfeed - so I didn't" .... Oh boy it's gonna be a tough few years Ellie "Anne Rogers" wrote in message . cam.ac.uk... Does anybody have any good links about starting to introduce solids?
