I'm just wondering if its common to get swelling.. as in, do more people get
swelling than those that dont?

I haven't had any swelling what-so-ever and i'm 30 weeks on friday.

I'm very swollen. Hands, feet and face. Terrible!!! Causes Carpal Tunnell
Syndrome from what I understand.

Good question! I know I had some water retention but out and out swelling
not really. I've never had to take off rings or buy wider/bigger shoes
etc.. I keep hearing of the heat making you swell and since I am due in June
I am keeping my fingers crossed that I don't this time around as well!

I don't have any swelling that is noticeable to others, in fact I don't
think I have any swelling so to speak but maybe some water retention....I
don't look swollen, The reason I think I may have some water retention is
because my wedding ring is tight, but my fingers don't look swollen at all.
My other rings fit but my ring finger is very small and the rings I wear on
it are sized a bit more fitted to prevent them form slipping off. I haven't
noticed any swelling in my feet or ankles (yet!)

I think my face is a little swollen. I don't have a round face so it's not
in my cheeks, but I look chubbier in the chin and jaw area. Slight Pregnancy
double chin!

I think some people swell up, and others don't. I really have
absolutely no idea why. One of my husbands co-workers swelled up so
badly she had to buy shoes 2 sizes bigger than her normal size and
couldn't wear any rings after 20 wks. But then she had a very
complicated pregnancy. I'm closing in on 27 wks and have had little or
no noticable swelling. I think it can be normal either way. But
swelling up too much is also a symptom of pre-eclampcia (sp?) I believe.

Some people just don't swell up, like me. Others do under certain
circumstances (hot, humid weather is a great one) and you really can't
predict which you'll be. My sister swelled up a LOT with both her
pregnancies, I didn't with any of mine.

And to answer a couple of your questions in another thread, the GBS
test is fairly standard in Australian hospitals if you are a public
patient, not necessarily if you are private, it is generally done at
around 34-36 weeks, and you shouldn't be offered an internal exam
unless there is a reason to assume you are (or should be) dilating.
When I was seeing an OB with my first pregnancy I was given an
internal at my request at 39 weeks because I asked for an induction at
41 weeks, with the second I was given one at 37.5 weeks because I was
going to be induced at 38.5 weeks, with the third it was never an
option.

You lucky girl. If a snowman married a weeble, that would be me. Round
puffy cheeks, round arms, round bust, round butt, round calves and
Flintstone-esque feet. I'm The Amazing Puffy Woman, already, and from
experience, I suspect it's going to get worse.

Last time I was pregnant, I peed away 40 pounds in the ten days after
delivery. I deflated.

Oopsie - that was a bit vulgar of me. Please substitute "lost" or "got rid
of" for "**** away".

Haven't had swelling with either pregnancies. In fact, I lost so much weight
both times that my rings were falling off.
