Oh no, swelling!!!!
I have felt ok because of all the morning sickness, sciatic nerve pain,
stuffy nose, sleeplessness, etc....the one thing I have NOT had at ALL, not an ounce, is any kind of swelling. I have not been on my feet much at all today just the normal like I do every day, which is very light since I am not working. I decided I wanted a takeout vegetable plate so I literally showered, drove 15 minutes to get it and 15 back. I called my order in so I didn't even wait one minute for it. Well.........also, I wear clogs, which are roomy and supportive comfortable, very roomy on my feet. When I kicked them off at home, I had to look twice because my ankles are the size of my calves and I have Fred Flintstone feet! Puffy! I have normally tiny ankles- most people can wrap a hand around my ankle and have their fingers touch- and fairly shapely/muscular calves, so it's significant that my ankles are the size of my calves. It was just a shock, because I am 35 weeks and haven't had any swelling so I thought I was going to be ok. ugh.......does this mean I will tend to have swelling like this now?? My husband is away for the weekend, he finally took that home visit that I wanted him to take. It's just me, the cat, and my new kankles. My stomach is practically in another zip code but it's still here with me too. I don't feel TOO horrible but it's just odd to watch my body go through all these changes that are new to me. I do wonder one thing-- I don't normally eat a lot of sodium even taking into account how most foods these days are loaded up with it. Last night I sliced up a large tomato and salt and peppered it down and ate it, and it WAS fairly salty. I wonder if that one instance of salt could have led to this or if it's just my time to swell anyway no matter what? |

My recommendation, Jill, is to enjoy the few weeks you have left of being pregnant. I actually miss it sometimes. No kidding! You know what they say about "you will forget the pain after the baby comes"? Well, I've always thought that was hogwash. Especially because I don't believe in "one look at the baby and you will be in love". I suppose it is because I am a realist. Well, you know what? I can hardly remember the pain! Whatsupwiththat? I wonder though, do we forget the pain of other types of surgery? Let me think back, I've had breast augmentation. Hmmm..nope, I remember the pain. Curious question. ~Carol Ann |

Ouch, I have heard that any kind of breast surgery can be miserably painful, I seem to hear it more about reductions, but have heard pain horror stories from augmentation too. I certainly remember the pain from having my tonsils out at 18. I'll take the words of everyone and try to keep in mind that childbirth pain is forgotten, I guess if it WASN'T, women would stop at 1, lol. |

Hmmm..nope, I remember the pain. nope, definitely not, I remember waking up in the recovery room after knee surgery, they had not given me any pain relief at all (the surgery was supposed to be minor and turned out to be not so minor, but the anethetist didn't change his plans), I woke up screaming. Certainly pain from childbirth is not something that would stop be doing it again, but it would take a lot of convincing if I needed more knee surgery. |
