Toddler sized duvet/down comforter in the US

no duvets.

That's because in US terminology they're often called
"comforters" (even if they're what you think of as duvets). Now,
don't ask me why they call the inside part a "comforter" and the
outside part a "duvet cover." That would be well beyond my
comprehension! But it seems like more shops do that than you'd
think. If you search on crib down comforter you'll turn things
up more easily. The covers will show up as either "duvet covers"
or "comforter covers."

Americans are not very familiar with duvets, so for marketing purposes
duvets are often called comforters. But American-style comforters are
meant to be used without a cover. So I guess to find a duvet your
best bet is to search for "duvet cover" or "comforter cover".

Anne, the links in this thread for duvets will get you plenty of
covers too. Another good source of covers (twin size and up) is
landsend.com, esp overstock pages.

I have a toddler size duvet and duet cover that I purchased at IKEA.
Honestly, I'm not sure if the filling is down or cotton/poly, but I do
know that Ikea sells bigger ones in down (twin size might be better
for your child anyway). For the poster asking where to buy duvet
covers, IKEA has a good variety in all sizes, and the prices are
reasonable. Additionally, keep in mind that if you find a 'comforter'
that is meant to be used along, you can just put that inside a duvet
cover of your choice...and you can often find ugly ones at a very
reduced price, so this makes it an even better option!!
