I've been reading my news groups off and on and hadn't seen anything
at a.m. for quite a while. I just tried to post there and got an
error message stating it's not a valid newsgroup. Anyone else have
any info?
I'm using Agent if that matters any, but I'm not having trouble with
any other groups I'm subbed to.

Thanks!

Nan

I haven't had any problems... I see Mo posted a reply to something today,
less than half an hour ago according to the time.
Last message I can see from you was on June 23, IIRC.

Are you subbed to other alt.* groups? Do those work?

who is your access provider? Quest, Verizon & Comcast have
dropped either all groups or all alt & binary groups. you will
need to use an outside NNTP server (there's a few, some are
free but the pay ones have spam traps).
alt.mothers has had several posts in the past few days.

I pinged a host that wasn't there
It wasn't there again today
The host resolved to NSA.

What's your ISP?
If it's Verizon, they recently dumped all of the alt.* groups.

Beg to differ on the Comcast front...I'm getting all
the newsgroups. Comcast provides news service through
Giganews, at least around here.

Best wishes,

Ahh, that's it, then. I've got Verizon. I may convince dh to switch
ISPs (I've never really cared for Verizon) but if not, are there any
servers you'd recommend? I don't mind paying a small fee.

i still use the NNTP serve at my dial-up IP (i have special
dispensation from the boss for remote log-in).
the German server is about $15/year US, i think & they spam
trap. aioe.it is free. there's a few others. you can keep
Verizon & just get a new NNTP server
