car seats and pet/guard cargo barrier in suabru outback wagon
Hi all,
My wife and I recently purchased a 2001 Subaru Outback wagon. We have a dog and want to purchase the Subaru factory model pet barrier/divider for the rear cargo portion of the wagon. We have been advised that this model is the best shape and will fit the best for our wagon. However I have heard that if you have a pet barrier/divider you cannot use the upper LATCH anchors for child car seats. Since we are expecting our first child soon, this incompatability is a concern. I know that most infant seats only use the lower LATCH anchors, but toddler seats can use upper and lower. Is this claim true? The subaru rep told me that to install the pet barrier you may have to remove 1 or all upper anchors? is this true? I am looking for advice from people that may have installed the pet barrier/divider in their outback and that may or may not have a child seat in the back that uses upper anchors. Thanks, M |

When in doubt, go to the source. That said, if you only have to remove 1 upper anchor, it may not be a problem. Each forward-facing LATCH car seat uses two lower and one upper anchor. Susan |
