She has a couple window seats in the house. She just thinks she owns the
place.

Well, she is a cat, and I think by definition then does own the place!
The foil and sticky tape are good suggestions. I have used wide
masking tape that i make into a loop for the couch - good luck!

Thanks!

Frankly, we didn't do anything about the cat. She slept in the crib, she
slept in the pack n play, etc. We never found her and the baby in them
at the same time (although, since we coslept a fair bit, the cat did continue
to sleep on our bed while the baby was there). She would occaisionally
sniff Emma, but mostly kept her distance. Emma is now 3 and the cat
sleeps on an extra pillow on her bed. Its kind of sweet.

Probably not the recommended way to handle it, but it just wasn't
an issue.

That's very similar to how we handled our cats with Miles. I did,
generally, try to discourage them from sleeping in his crib whether he
was there or not, but it wasn't anything I enforced hard (never have
used the spray bottle method). I only found one cat, ever, sharing
his crib while he was in it; I prompted ejected her (luckily without
waking him up) and she never repeated it. (They were on opposite ends
of the crib, and probably nothing would've come of it, but it made me
nervous to see). We did cosleep, and adults, cats, and the baby
managed to sleep happily together for the 1st year, at least. Mainly
we didn't let them walk on him, or otherwise do things which might
harm him, though mostly they were happy to keep a distance. But we
had four cats at the time, of varying ages and perspectives. Some
actively ignored him and stayed away from him; some were a little
curious. Some decided he was a big, funny, hairless kitten -- and all
_ours_ to take care of, no grooming volunteers among them. But at
least one just interpreted him as "another human, very small" and
needed discouragement in treating him like she treated the adult
humans.

Anyway, it seems to have worked pretty well. At 26 months, he's ready
to shower with affections those that will stand for it -- those that
won't have already learned to get out of the way, if they can, of the
marauding toddler. They're still very gentle with him, and he handles
them pretty well, I think, for just over 2 years old.

Within the next year, or perhaps sometime after he's three, we're
going to start getting him into his own bed. We're already
speculating which, and how many, cats will join him there. (I'm
pretty sure it will raise his status in our feline community.)

yes, have the babies.

Our cat loved the crib prior to the birth, and now won't go near it.
Friends predicted this would happen and it did. DOn't sweat it !
