FAO: Unadulterated Me (sulfasalazine)
I wanted to make sure your rheumatologist advised you that
sulfasalazine inhibits the absorbtion of folic acid -- so if there is a chance you might become pregnant you should be taking an extra-large supplement. My doctor didn't know this (although it is well documented in the literature) but put me on a prescription extra-strength folic acid supplement when I brought it to her attention. Just wanted to mention it, in case your doc was as ill-informed as mine! Elle |

Elle Thanks for the heads up, I'll squirrel that bit of information away, my Rheumy specialises in Junior RA so I don't think she's very up on how drugs effect pregnancy, or if she is she didn't feel it of importance to tell me.
