Geez what a pain.

I was leaving base about 5:30 pm to get the kids dinner (Dylan's away,
didn't feel like cooking). I passed one accident, didn't know the car in
front of me was stopping (as opposed to slowing down) for an accident in
front of us and I hit him.

Oh my goodness, Sophie. I am so sorry for your trouble! I trust you're ok
today?

Wow, Sophie, I'm sorry. I'll bet everyone at the scene of the accident

was
freaked when they saw you were pregnant! I'm glad everything is

physically
okay. Good luck taking care of all that insurance and car junk.

Leslie

I think the fact that I was pregnant, had the kids with me, *and* Dylan was
away helped - lol. I rear-ended him and didn't get a ticket.

I'm okay today, just kinda achy and tired - physically and emotionally.

That must of been so scary for you Sophie. We are all glad that
everything is ok. I hope you get all of the details sorted soon.

Well yay for Geico - I'll tell ya, that was easier than I thought it would
be. I go get my rental this afternoon

Sophie,
I'm so sorry to hear of your accident, I really am, your poor
babies must have been startled to say the least. Thankfully, you, the
baby and the kids are all okay. Good luck with the insurance stuff, and
try and take it easy. I'll be picking up my ordered "pregnancy seat
belt" this week, after that lady posted here with the link to that poor
little girl I'm a little scared.

I have a question for you regarding your kid's car seats... I know with
the infant seats, even a low impact accident requires replacement of the
seat and base all together, is that the same with other car seats made
for older children? and because of that, will insurance cover these
costs since they are damages related to the accident?

front of me was stopping (as opposed to slowing down) for an accident in

etc...there for the first accident. So I think it all went quickly (I was in
L&D by 8:30 pm).

Kids were fine, good testament to their carseats.

Air bags did not go off, my knees went into the dashboard, the left one
worse than the right.

A friend picked the kids up, took them home, gave them dinner, put them to
bed. She took me to the ER, who then sent me to L&D just to be safe, where I
stayed till about midnight. Everything is fine.

The van is pretty smushed (just the front end) and it got towed so today I
have insurance stuff to deal with. All I care about (now that we're all
okay) is getting a rental and all that sorted out.

My husband should be home Friday - thank goodness. And my mom, who was here
over the weekend, is already on her way back here.

So that's it. Today I had that appointment with the fetal medicine
specialist anyway (my last one, the 10th!) and the boys will be in the
daycare as already planned so I'll have peace and quiet to make my phone
calls. The Dr said I might feel achy today but I don't, my knee is more
bruised than last night though.

So that's my excitement I could have done without - lol.

Bummer! The bad stuff always happens when the guys are away in my world.
Glad you're ok, though.

Denise

A female Marine was in the accident I passed and she laughed when I said he
was away and would be going again - she said I see he had enough time to
knock you up and leave again - lol. No one was surprised he wasn't home.

If he hadn't been gone I wouldn't have been out at that time of evening.
And you know all these stories start with "One time when X was away...." -
lol.

Sorry to hear about your accident, Sophie. I'm glad you weren't seriously
hurt and that the kids are all fine.

If it makes you feel any better at all, I rear-ended someone on May 1st

and
so *my* van is in the shop at the moment. And yes, it *is* a pain,

although
thankfully we have my dad's old Aerostar as a backup (though it only seats
four people instead of 7).

Oh no, I had no idea. I'm getting a car cos it's covered. I'll pay more
and get a van if I can't squeeze everyone in. I hardly ever have all 3 kids
so I think I can make do.

In my case, it was a real bonehead move--the light had turned green and

the
cars at the front of the line were moving. I stepped on the gas gently to
ease forward, then Vernon started hollering. I turned around to see what

was
the matter and WHAMMO! Geeze, did I feel like a complete idiot or what.
Fortunately, I was only doing about 5mph at the time, so the car still

ran,
but the Mitsubishi in front of me was pretty smashed (partly because my
bumper and its bumper didn't match up very well, so it took a lot of the
impact in the trunk) and that car hit the car in front of it, which
sustained some paint damage to the bumper. I'm just hoping that all the
damage stays under the $25K per incident liability limit on my policy!

Oh geez! It happens so fast, doesn't it? I have to admit I told my friend
today I'm glad it was jsut an honest accident, I wasn't playing with the
radio, applying lipstick, etc...Lol. I'm glad I was in my van. I hit an
SUV that has the spare tire on the back door. I'd hate to think what would
have happened if I'd been in a car - for sure my windshield would have been
damaged too I think. No one was hit in the back and front either, just one
or the other, so that was better.

Anyway, my condolences to you because I know what a hassle it is to be
without your primary vehicle, especially with three little kids.

Hopefully,
you'll be able to get a suitable rental (we don't have coverage for it on
our policy and since we have a spare that does the job, we decided not to
pay for one). Good luck with everything!

Well Dylan's car is here (at his work) but it's stick shift, which I can
drive but don't like. Plus if they'll give us a rental, heck, I'll take it.

Now it's just the hassle of getting everything done.

I have to say, not that I ever wanted to test them, but I'm glad to know my
carseats worked when needed. My booster seats are a type that Dateline
hates too so that had me *a little* worried.
