Car accident last night
"Donna" wrote in message ... "Sophie" wrote in message ... Geez what a pain. I was leaving base about 5:30 pm to get the kids dinner (Dylan's away, didn't feel like cooking). I passed one accident, didn't know the car in front of me was stopping (as opposed to slowing down) for an accident in front of us and I hit him. Oh my goodness, Sophie. I am so sorry for your trouble! I trust you're ok today? Donna Yep had my ultrasound today and everything is fine |

Sophie,
I'm so sorry to hear of your accident, I really am, your poor babies must have been startled to say the least. Thankfully, you, the baby and the kids are all okay. Good luck with the insurance stuff, and try and take it easy. I'll be picking up my ordered "pregnancy seat belt" this week, after that lady posted here with the link to that poor little girl I'm a little scared. I have to admit I didn't read that thread but will find it now. I was asked by a million people if i had my seatbelt on, did I have it under my stomach, etc...I don't remember honestly where I had it placed but I have no red marks or bruises on my stomach or chest from it. I have a question for you regarding your kid's car seats... I know with the infant seats, even a low impact accident requires replacement of the seat and base all together, is that the same with other car seats made for older children? and because of that, will insurance cover these costs since they are damages related to the accident? Nic You know I actually thought about that - since the carseats have been in an accident, do I need new ones? I think I'll call my insurance company back and ask. Lewis is in a convertible carseat facing forward, and the other 2 in booster seats that are just the base to make them taller (they have the seatbelt across their lap and the shoulder one in front of them). |

The insurance company told me I should replace mine even though we had a very slow crash. When a woman backed into the van last year while it was parked and Vernon and Aurora were sleeping, they also wanted me to replace them, and the van wasn't even moving at the time. I have spare seats because Aurora has moved from a convertible to a booster and Julian is really too big for a booster at all any more (52" tall and 75 lbs., he scarcely fits in one any longer), though, so I don't need to go out and buy new ones. -- Be well, Barbara Mom to Sin (Vernon, 2), Misery (Aurora, 4), and the Rising Son (Julian, 6) Aurora (in the bathroom with her dad)--"It looks like an elephant, Daddy." I have to admit I told my friend today I'm glad it was jsut an honest accident, I wasn't playing with the radio, applying lipstick, etc...Lol. I said after the accident that I don't think cell phones are distracting at all compared to children. So I think driving with children in the car should be illegal g! Well Dylan's car is here (at his work) but it's stick shift, which I can drive but don't like. Plus if they'll give us a rental, heck, I'll take it. Yeah, I would, too. We just made the decision not to pay for rental coverage because we have a spare vehicle anyway. Now it's just the hassle of getting everything done. Man, that's what I've been going through. They've promised me my van back by Friday (and I absolutely *have* to have it by then because that's my day to take Julian and his friend to piano lessons) and maybe sooner, but I've been without it since Monday and it's driving me a bit nuts. We have 4-5 kids to transport at a time quite often, since my nanny brings her 3yo with her every day and then does all the drop-offs and pick-ups from school. Julian has a friend come home with him a couple of time a week, so with my three, my nanny's one, and one amigo, the minivan is definitely a necessity! In order to make it possible for us to do all the drop-offs/pick-ups, I've had to arrange my schedule so that I don't need to be in the office during any of those times so that Judy can either leave the little boys here while she gets the others or I can go pick them up myself. -- Be well, Barbara Mom to Sin (Vernon, 2), Misery (Aurora, 4), and the Rising Son (Julian, 6) Aurora (in the bathroom with her dad)--"It looks like an elephant, Daddy." That's what my kids use. (Only cost about $25.) And you saw something negative about them on Dateline? Do you remember what it was? Also, sorry to hear about your accident. I hope all continues to be well with you and your children. Thanks, -Patty, mom to Corinne (6y) and Nathan (nearly 4y) and stepmom to Victoria (14y) |
