Hgc Levels
Dear all,
I have a question. I have two girls and both times no pregnancy test came up positive. My first we confirmed through a physical exam at eight weeks and the second via ultrasound also aroud 8 weeks. So here I am, a couple of days late, very sore breasts, and the nipples look darker, yet the test came back negative. I can find no info about how normal (or abnormal) it is for a woman to not respond to urine tests? My girls are 14 and 7 so we would be thrilled to have our last one about now. I just don't understand how my body works differently or why? Have you heard of cases like this before? Thanks so much for your help Kath |

Go to your doctor and request a blood test. Basically, the embryo puts off
hcg into your system, and it gets into your blood faster than it gets into your urine. So it's possible to have a faint or negative hpt and still have a nice normal blood result. Based on your history of negative hpts while clearly being pregnant, I'd ring up your doctor and ask for a blood test. Regarding the hpt's, some are clearly more sensitive than others. FRED (First Response Early Detection confirms about 20 mui, I believe, while Confirm detects about 25 mui of hcg in your urine, and EPT detects 40 mui. Fact Plus detects 150 mui. If you haven't tried with a very sensitive test, you might want to try again. Or not. A blood test is easy to get, although not as fast! They usually call you later that day with results. -- Jamie Earth Angels: Taylor Marlys, 1/3/03 -- My Big Girl, who started preschool, and loved it!
