Toddler sized duvet/down comforter in the US

Does such a thing exist in the US? I can only find comforters that are
sort of cotten quilts, not down duvets. When I see things called
'duvet' they're usually just what I'd call a comforter - lighter,
cotten rather than down filled.

We don't need anything outrageous, as it only gets cold for a short
time here, but a regular blanket just doesn't do it for DD (our house
gets pretty cold at night and DH and I use duvets). For now DD sleeps
with us still, but she should be in her own bed by next winter, and we
could probably use one for another month or so here.

They sell them in Europe, but with the lousy dollar and the hassle of
transport, I was hoping to buy one in the US but can't find one. Does
anyone have one, and if so, where'd you buy it?

Yes, I bought one for DD a couple of years ago online. The only thing is,
she never really used it and quickly outgrew it. I'd say go with a twin
down comforter. It will last longer.

comforters, although you may be wanting a thicker, warmer comforter
(duvet) than anything they offer. I have bought bedding from them
several times, and it is better quality than most.

If you find a US or Canada source of those really thick European-style
duvets, please share it with me.

come from there), but with the current dollar, it seemed silly, esp
since we're not in a cold climate and don't need it much.

where did you find covers? I haven't looked hard, but nor have I seen
any, all our beds have duvets, all bought in the UK, but one of the
covers for ours has worn really badly.

That's because in US terminology they're often called
"comforters" (even if they're what you think of as duvets). Now,
don't ask me why they call the inside part a "comforter" and the
outside part a "duvet cover." That would be well beyond my
comprehension! But it seems like more shops do that than you'd
think. If you search on crib down comforter you'll turn things
up more easily. The covers will show up as either "duvet covers"
or "comforter covers."

Americans are not very familiar with duvets, so for marketing purposes
duvets are often called comforters. But American-style comforters are
meant to be used without a cover. So I guess to find a duvet your
best bet is to search for "duvet cover" or "comforter cover".

Anne, the links in this thread for duvets will get you plenty of
covers too. Another good source of covers (twin size and up) is
landsend.com, esp overstock pages.

I have a toddler size duvet and duet cover that I purchased at IKEA.
Honestly, I'm not sure if the filling is down or cotton/poly, but I do
know that Ikea sells bigger ones in down (twin size might be better
for your child anyway). For the poster asking where to buy duvet
covers, IKEA has a good variety in all sizes, and the prices are
reasonable. Additionally, keep in mind that if you find a 'comforter'
that is meant to be used along, you can just put that inside a duvet
cover of your choice...and you can often find ugly ones at a very
reduced price, so this makes it an even better option!!
