Barbara Loe Fisher is a great children's advocate but this is silly IMHO.
The entire thing is built around one sentence: "She lies" - not an
official statement from Dr. Offit but something he said to a journalist
who dutifully reported it (not even necessarily with his consent).
The journalist is definitely off the hook. Her article may be biased
but that is not actionable. Does Dr.Offit have to prove anything?
IANAL but I doubt it. He expressed his private opinion. And in the very
next paragraph he admitted that Barbara Loe Fisher cares about kids.
That voids or at least seriously weakens his claim that "she lies" -
and thus weakens her lawsuit too.

Heck, if you make public appearances then being called names by
somebody, somewhere in the media is normal, isn't it?

Maybe her real purpose is discovery process, like finding out whether
Dr.Offit gets any payments from the industry, Richard Doll - style.
This is speculation of course.

(Richard Doll was a well known British cancer researcher who testified
that Agent Orange does not cause cancer while collecting millions of
British pounds from the AO manufacturers for unspecified consulting
services.)
