Default Help!!!

I am not sure whether I should post my question here .. but please help if
anyone has suggestion.

Dd, who is almost 10 mos old, starts sleep thru the night when she is 5 mos
old. However, this week, she kept waking up in the mid of the nite. The
main reason (I think), she poo in the middle of the night, and the dirty
diaper made her discomfort. She never poo in the mid of the night after 2
months old. And she is not only poo once ..but sometimes 2-3 times. I don't
think she's got a diarreah since her poo is not watery and not greenish.
Another matter is sometimes she will get wet of her clothes (we are using #
4 disposable diaper at night, and her weight is 22lbs). I have made sure
the diaper has been dressed well every night after bath. I have no idea at
all what has happened.

My question is 1. how can I train her not pooing during the night? 2.
should I schedule her pooing time. 3. Should I use a bigger size diaper in
order to avoid wetting the clothes during the night time.

Those just happened this week, it never happen before.

Please help and any advise is welcome.

I don't think you could do any of these at this age, even if she were potty
trained. I mean, can you schedule *your* pooing time? You go when you have
to, right? It's not like you can do it when someone else wants you to.

Yes.

Hi -

If your baby is pooping during the night when she hasn't before, not for
months, you may wish to consult with your pediatrician. It's not
typical behavior once a baby has stopped doing that.

As for scheduling her poops ... you could try "elimination timing".
(Look it up on the web.) It's not quite the same thing, but may be
helpful to you.

And if you *don't* go when you have to, it's not good for you and can lead
to health problems.
Good luck teaching a 10-month-old to hold it in because it's not time to
poop yet, anyway...

It might just be that she needs a poo in the middle of the night, and
doesn't need a poo earlier.

However, when my daughter seemed a little constipated, or like she needed a
poo in the evenings, or was gassy, I would try giving her a gentle tummy rub
perhaps before her bath, and maybe 'cycling' her legs a bit (perhaps whilst
singing a cheery song such as 'I like to ride my bicycle' ). And tapping
her on the nose with her toes.

If she is quite well-coordinated and likes sitting on 'chairs' you could try
sitting her on a potty if she is happy to go along with it - being in the
position of having her knees up around her tummy would often make Ella to go
when she was younger.

If that failed, she'd often poo in the bath, so don't have it too bubbly or
you might find a surprise or two waiting under the bubbles...

Perhaps you could give these things a try one evening and see if it helps at
all.

I agree. Caterpillar (who until recently was pooping 6 times a day) has
gone at night on exactly one night since outgrowing it - and that was
during a week when she was sick and on antibiotics.

On the other hand, she often poops quite late (like 10:30), so if we
tried putting her to bed at 7:30, she'd wake up poopy in the night. I
can't help you if that's your problem, though.

dd has been sick two weeks ago. she's a cold but she didn't have any
medication. However, she is getting much better now except she still has
some phlegm in her throat. um... will it be the reason? Last week, she
poops in the early morning ..like 7am or so. But last couple days, she poop
at around 4 or 5 am. And today, I discover there is a bad diaper rash
around her bottom.

How many times should a 10 mos old baby pooping per day? I always worry dd
pooping too often since she usually poops 3-4 times a day.

Thanks Beth,

I have looked for articles about "elmination timing". I found
it's very interesting. So I try to train dd two days ago.
And ... it is so excited that she pooped into the toilet last
night. Dh and I were so excited and we praised her.
I am going to buy a potty for her today. Do you have any
recommendation for that?

Thanks again for your inspriation.
