Indeed, but what do you think that means?
The bible is still a set of lies designed by the first literate
slave masters to control slaves.

I don't preach the bible. You're a slave to the elite.

John,

Good theology doesn't come from works of fiction; but from the Word.
Have you considered how much harm Dante's book has done to the church?

Yes I read it this last semester. Its an excellent work of fiction. I
dont know how much of it can be real. But I have heard some of those
who have had a NDE experience who have claimed stories of their visits
in hell, which have somewhat been like the Inferno.

I may give the book another skim. There were plenty of good works we
read besides the Inferno such as Don Quixote, The Thebaid, The Odyssey,
and such.

John I don't know enough about the bible to preach. The bible can be
interpreted in many ways.

I have my interpretations - for all I know, they may be wrong.

Especially when you haven't really read it, and think that it condones
screwing prostitutes and has extensive sections about Pilate's wife...

I see it as a spiritual awakening (of what could happen)

How has Dante harmed the church? If anything he's reinforced HELL and the
punishment of sin/s

Tommy,

You kind of made my point for me.

It is not the preaching of hell that get's people saved. It is
preaching the Savior that get's people saved from hell. Ambassadors
for Christ are supposed to use the word of reconcilation in their
ministry of reconcilation; not scare the "hell" out of people. Once
saved, a person can not go to hell (he's been saved); but preaches use
the threat of "hell" to motivate people to conform to their will.
Tithe or go to hell, do this or go to hell, do that or go to hell, you
do this and you go to hell, you do that and you go to hell.

Dante's book provided visual imagery and provided publicity for hell
which is what the devil uses to bind believers with fear and as a tool
to cause unbelievers to hate God. Logically, God is not love if he
sends his children to hell for sin.

The word hell when translated from "hades" refers to the state of the
dead, the "thanatos." All "hades" means is the state of death or the
grave. Hades along with thanatos is cast in to the lake of fire
spoken of in Revelation 19 and 20. The last enemy that shall be
destroyed is thanatos (death).

There is a word that means "hell" where the angels were cast down to.
That is the word "tartaroo" used only in 2 Pet 2:4. But that is not
the same as "hades" the grave. There is no record of the Bible of
anyone being in the lake of fire. That is a future event as stated
above. When people die they go to the grave; the state of death,
gravedom. They do not go to the lake of fire.

Think about it. In time Jesus will come "for" his church (1 Th 4:13
and following). When he comes "for" them they will no longer be on
the earth for the future resurrections. Christians are not
resurrected from the dead, they are raised from the dead long before
the resurrections. It is the unjust that get turned into crispy
kritters, not Christians.

Being a Christian has nothing to do with sin. Technically a Christian
is a disciple and not all believers are disciples. Those who confess
Jesus as Lord and believe in their heart that God raised Jesus from
the dead are saved and can not go to hell. All saved people have been
judged and found righteous. It says so in Romans, which is why there
is no condemnation in Christ (Rom 8:1).

In the NT the word "hell" is usually translated from "hades"; the
state of death, the grave. That is all it means. A person goes to
"hades" when he dies. A person goes to the grave when he dies.

In Revelation 19 and 20 it does speak about a lake of fire and death
and hades are cast into the lake of fire. Hell is not the lake of
fire, but what is cast into the lake of fire along with death, the
beast the false prophet and some others.

John,

Spiritualism, necromancy, familiar spirits, oneness pentecostal.
Hell, biblically is the grave, the state of death. The lake of fire
is still future. No one is in the lake of fire. Rev 19 and 20.
