Default speech delay.

Hi,
I have a two year old son who is speech delayed. I have noticed that a
lot of mom's with children who are speeched delayed had problems with
pre-eclampsia and hypertension during pregancy. I am interested to see
if any of the mom's that post here have had simular problems.
thanks.

Yep--

Son with speech delays related to Sensory Integration Dysfunction in
child born at 34.5 weeks gestation after an induced labor for severe,
sudden preeclampsia. He's in speech therapy and getting OT also.

There has been a correlation between foetal monitoring with ultrasound
(Dopplers, CTGs, etc) and speech delay in children... perhaps your
pre-eclampsia and hypertension during pregnancy led to more ultrasound
being used on your unborn child?

My oldest son has speech delays but his birth mother did not have any
complications during her pregnancy to explain his delays. My guess is that
it's just random in my son's case.

As I said, it was a correlation pointed out. Just out of curiosity
though, one ultrasound scan is normal, but did she have much foetal
monitoring or doppler listen-in's?

Well with 1+2 she had home births with a midwife.. so I am not sure about
what type of monitoring she had through out the pregnancy... 3+4 she was
induced in the hospital for being past date... She went to 42 weeks on pg
1+2+3.. the 4rth she was induced on her due date.
