Poor you. I have IBS so hemmies are a constant feature in my life
whether I'm treating or avoiding them. Put an ice pack on there if
they're that bad and take Tylenol or something else safe. It's a
horrible pain. Pregnancy = constipation for me so I was projecting I
guess :c)

I was terribly constipated for the first half of pregnancy, suddenly I'm
not anymore, but now I have other fun things I guess ;-) "Only about 80
more days" is my current mantra *lol*
I'm doing a lot better today and I hope it'll just stay like this now. I
want to start a yoga/birthing class with a midwife next week and I
better be fit by then because it'll mean a 30 minute train/bus ride. I'm
thinking about getting one of those doughnut cussions, just to be
prepared...

Take care!

Hemorrhoids? Witch hazel on cotton balls works for me, as does a regular
stool softener (I use colace & benefiber) to avoid the straining which
causes them in the 1st place. I also got a prescription cream from the
doc called Analpram HC that really helped a lot. When I'm in bad shape I
drink coffee, Dunkin' Donuts is magic!

I'm not even constipated, that's the thing. It started last tuesday
after a long "shopping trip" (clothes and books). I think it was the
long periods of standing around and walking.
I'm better today. I got a cream from a doc which... kind of helps, I
think (it's really hard to tell because it does seem to need a few hours
to start working). I also got some milky liquid from my midwife which,
applied to cotton balls/cotton squares cools the area.
Honestly, I've never been in so much pain from Hemorrhoids. Saturday I
wanted to please be in labour instead because it would be a) less
painfull and b) over at some point.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try to get some witch hazel and see if that helps.

Try a sitz bath too. Fill the tub a quarter full, a little hotter
than normal and sit for 10 min. The heat will reduce the clotting
which is why it is making it painful.
Hated that part of pregnancy!

When I had my first child I had him within half an hour of getting to
hospital. Nobody told me to hold back on the pushing. It worked a
treat!

Your point being?

I pushed as I felt like it and DD was born within 15 minutes of arriving
at
the hospital. I had looked at the clock.

With #1 I pushed when the nurse told me to because I didn't know any
better. I did not feel an urge to push. 3hrs and 45min later he was
finally born. I couldn't sit down for two weeks and was miserable much
longer. That might be the point

I waited until the others were nearly crowning. That is most definitely
the way to go!

With #1 I was pushing from when I was told to for about 2 hours, and was
in a lot of pain afterwards-and stitches. With #2 I pushed for more like
15 minutes, from when I was told to, and could have happily played tennis
within a couple of hours later. It's called a second birth.
Debbie

Well I disagree. I think waiting for the urge to push results in a better
outcome then pushing because some nurse decided it was time.

Truth be told, I'm already having a hard time sitting down (ok, or laying
down, or standing up.) OUCH. Any secret recipes you'd like to share?
Preferrably ones that don't involve 13 naked virgins dancing around me at
midnight on a moonless night ;-)
I have a cream. It's not really doing much. I don't want surgery now and
end up having to do it all over again in about 14 weeks.

Oh, I'm sorry. I've luckily only had minor trouble with hemorrids and that
wasn't until my last pregnancy. My misery was from swelling and stitches.

I don't have a tub. I'll have to find one of those thingies you set on
the toilett and fill with water. Thanks for the suggestion! Everyone
tells me too cool it, but for me heat usually works better for anything.
I had some swollen gland in my shoulder when I was pregnant with Sam and
I couldn't lift my arm at all. I tried cooling it for days. Then I put
heat on it and it was better the same day and gone two days later.
Rigth now I just take a lot of hot showers...

take care!

I agree with this. Baby #2, it was when I was told to as I really didn't
know. Baby #1 was emergency c-section, so I didn't get that far!
#2 I did when I was told. It was 2 contractions, so no more than about 10
minutes? Baby #3 and 4, I waited until I was told to by my own body. I had
actually been waiting and holding off for DH to get back to the hospital and
he came when I couldn't hold off any more. #4 was the same, only N learned
his lesson to NOT leave! lol #3 and 4 were both 1 contraction and that was
that. Far easier for me, but also could be said because it was later
babies?

I pushed as needed with both of my kids but at the very end of both births,
they told me to push and I said no. Well, then they said it was critical
because there's an emergency. I pushed and they slide out after two or
three pushes. All they have to do it tell me it's an emergency and the
kids are out.

I'd forgotten about heat, I used to use a hot water bottle on the really
painful ones, it seemed to soften them so they would burst with the next
bm - sorry if tmi but man oh man that bursting is heavenly :c)

Good luck to you!
