Default Non-immunised kids cause MASSIVE MEASLES Outbreak

I can't believe in this day and age there are people too stupid to take
advantage of the obvious benefit (and social responsibility) to
immunise their kids.

Immunisation should NOT be optional - parents too kooky and stupid to
have their children immunised should be taken to court for child abuse
and their children should be removed from them and given to people who
can actually apply the best interests of the children.

ATLANTA - The biggest U.S. measles outbreak in a decade - 34 people
stricken in Indiana and Illinois last year - was traced back to a
17-year-old girl who had traveled to Romania without first getting
vaccinated, government health officials said Thursday.

The outbreak accounted for more than half of the 66 measles cases in
the United States in 2005. Widespread use of the measles vaccine has
dramatically reduced the incidence of the disease over the past four
decades; in 2004, there were just 37 cases, the smallest number in
nearly 90 years of record-keeping.

The Indiana girl became infected after visiting a Romanian orphanage
while on a church-mission trip, health investigators said. The others
became infected after they attended a church gathering with her the day
after her return.

Thirty-three people in Indiana and one from Illinois became infected.
Three people were hospitalized, but no one died.

"The outbreak occurred because measles was imported into a population
of children whose parents had chosen not to vaccinate their children
because of safety concerns, despite evidence that measles-containing
vaccine is safe and effective," the
CDC said.

In the decade before a vaccine became available in 1963, about 450,000
measles cases and about 450 measles deaths were recorded in the U.S.
each year. The disease - often characterized by a rash that begins on
the face and spreads - can cause ear infections, diarrhea and
pneumonia. It kills about one in 1,000 patients, according to the CDC.

Specifically, 33 people got a bit sick for a few days, but nobody died.

A HUGE news story.

When you get dopey doctors that actively campaign AGAINST it on the basis of those diseases no
longer present a threat. The doctor I relate to didn't have an answer, when asked; "the ONLY
reason it is quiescent it BECAUSE EVERYONE IMMUNISES!. I had the unfortunate experience of
being a (non-medical) business partner of this idiot for a while!

Go to Nimbin/Byron Bay - can't mention the subject there.

It clearly illustrates the inherent dangers of a no immunisation protocol!

Sure. We can thank immunisation for the elimination of smallpox and polio,
and huge reduction of rabies, influenza, cholera, typhus and typhoid deaths.

I am just pointing out that 33 people getting sick and nobody dying isn't
going to scare people into supporting immunisation for measles, however
worthwhile that may be.

I followed your link - what a load of uttter rubbish.

Measles fell by 99.9% as soon as vaccination was introduced, not after.

Deaths from measles were steady in the few decades leading up to the
introduction of vaccination at which point they fell by 90%. That means
that in the US, there were about 250 children every year who *didn't*
die thanks to vaccination.

To compound your lies with stupidity, you claim vaccination "suppresses
the body's immune system" - what a load of crap - the reverse is true
you woolly-headed dimwit.

As far as measles being "safe" - this is dangerous and also dishonest -
you are essentially lying to people and begging them to put their
children in danger - measles often leads to dangerous complications
including deafness, brain damage and personality changes - these
dangers are common - unlike the very rare complications arising from
the immunisations themselves.

Like all good looneys, you are trying to substitute a huge risk for a
tiny one, so lacking in perspective is your grasp on reality.

3 of those 33 were hospitalised - even some of the non-hospitalised
could be left with permanent damage to their brain functions.

Measles is a dangerous disease - before immunisation, thousands of kids
every year were killed or left with very serious damage.

I find it bizarre that anti-immunisation whackos ADMIT THEY WANT MORE
CHILDREN TO BECOME ILL AND DIE to diseases which are easily preventable
with across-the-board vaccination.
