Default Question On Fetal Heart Rate

My wife and I had the first ultrasound done, they have determined she
is about 10 weeks pregnant and also the fetal heart rate was 179bpm.
The person doing the u/s said that was good although I have read a lot
of websites that say the normal range is between 120 - 160bpm and if
thats the case then 179 would be high?

The FHR is higher in the very earliest weeks
of pregnancy. That's normal. It'll slow down a tad
over the next several weeks.

Best wishes,

What Ericka said.

Also, even later in pregnancy, the fetal heart rate can jump up into
the 170's for short bursts, especially when the fetus is active. This
is actually a good thing.

Yes, this is actually what they look for when they do NSTs.
