I'm back(vent, rant,,,,got long)

Thanks, but I had all this romantic visions of me nourishing Liam with nothing but my milk.......it was fascinating me for the past 14 weeks watching his weight gain and it was all coming from me. And I had romantic visions of me being an extended breastfeeder, I just feel like I am pushing that goal further away. You can still breastfeed him...just not exclusively. And that's okay. And if you want, you can do it exclusively, but with two other kids and a job, it will be difficult on you. But you *can* do it. My brother has eczema, I had childhood asthma, my 2nd and 3rd cousins have eczema, asthma and cystic fibrosis. My brother has ADD and has always had a tendency to get hyperactive when he eats certain foods. No egg or dairy allergies in the family. No egg or dairy allergies in my family either. I'm going to say that the longer you can avoid formula, the better. What happens if you start him on formula, and then he gets allergic to cow's milk? It would be hard to go back to bm at that point... I know that's a what-if, but there's always something... Himself had childhood asthma, I have enviornmental allergies. C gets home at 2ish and dh leaves for work at 4, we start getting the dinner about 3ish, so by right, I should have time there........but I always find some other chores to do or end up nursing some days. If you want to do it, then make the time. If C or C wants to play, say "I have to be with Liam right now, but we can play when I'm done". You have to make it a priority, if you want it to be one. The rest of the family will follow your cue. And screw the other chores. They can be done later in the day or the next morning. Really. I can normally fit in a pump in the morning just after C leaves for school. You see I'm awful for staying up late and then being really tired in the morning and just wanting to veg on the couch! Start going to bed early. I know, I know...it's me time. But you can lie in bed with a book, and that's soothing and relaxing and rest time. Hey...turn off that computer by 9:30 too!! :-) Pump while vegging. Liam won't mind. I think people say the best time for pumping is after the morning feed... He'll only make dinner on his days off, but as soon as I go back to work he'll be making his own.....obviously none of this will be relevant then anyway! Start patterns now for smooth transition later. Maybe make some stuff on weekends (casseroles, lasagne) and freeze and then have later in the week when you need some time... Logistically, no, it probably would not make things all that easier, but I just envisioned him being more settled!?! Is he not settled? Every time I've seen him he's been asleep :-) I'm feeling that worrying about going back to work, maternity leave has flown by and I feel like I am going back way too soon but I can't afford to stay off any longer. Well, then, chin up. It has flown by, just like we'll turn around and it will be summer again (if only it would go faster!!). Stop worrying and do what you can with the time that you do have. Anytime next week hun, you are more than welcome to, after that it's back to the grindstone and it'll be hard making time to meet friends......oh to be a SAHM (with a nanny! lol!) snort It ain't all fun and games....hey...kid...get off my leg!!!! :-) Sounds cool but I have dedicated myself to fundraising for Educate Together that day. Okay..no prob. And I'll try to work out a day to come out there... Hugs! -- 'Tis Herself |

Since 1994, CYSTIC-L has been sharing both casual banter about the varied impact that CF has on our lives, as well as technical and medical information exchanges that help us to overcome the more unpleasant factors that this silly little gene imposes upon us. There are over 500 list subscribers sending a total of around 20-60 messages per day; a digest option is available which compiles messages and distributes them periodically during the day. I think Leslie should post her birth story every 6 months or so. It should be a standard. It's inspirational for all VBAC'rs, all 'your baby is SO BIG' Mom's and everyone else too. I shall go a' googling for it now... -- 'Tis Herself |

... But has anyone else managed to feed their baby ebm while they work without depending on a freezer stash?? Yes. I very rarely freeze any of my milk. I just pump each day what DD will need the next day. What I pump on Friday, she gets on Monday. But you're right. Pumping is a chore. DD will be a year old in 10 days and I hope to stop pumping shortly afterwards. Lucy |

How old now...and what weight? :-)
He's 26 months and I don't know his exact weight . . . maybe about 32 lbs.? He wears mostly 3T. OTOH, my 12-lb. baby weighed maybe 45 lbs. at the same age. He's now a ~115-lb. 8-year-old, who is a bit overweight but is mostly just big and football-playerish. The 11.5 lb. baby is now an 85-lb. nine-year-old, as slim as he could be. So IME size at birth doesn't seem to mean much in the long run! Leslie |
