Default Pacifier ruining latch at 6 months?

We didn't start the paci until DS was at least 3-4 weeks old. We did
finger and bb sucking up until then.

I changed him to the 6-month size recently and not sure if that is
affecting him.

I've had thrush and eczema and lots of pain initially with BF.

Recently I have had a lot more nipple/surface pain. I thought maybe it
was the thrush again, so I tried Gentian Violet and Nystatin. No
change. So I thought maybe its the eczema again. I've tried
Hydrocortisone.

The pain is the nipple and the part of the areola that he latches onto.
Its rough/dry/pink. I've seen some flakey, but not much. I've seen
some red dots (like blood blisters under the skin).

I've exposed my bbs to the air, the sun, lukewarm baths/showers.

I'm not sure what's the prob. I have an appt with Derm. Doc tomorrow,
but wondering if the paci's are affecting it. I put them all away and
have not given them to DS for about 2 days now. (He doesn't seem to
mind, so maybe we'll make it permanent).

I haven't changed anything else (soaps/etc).

Any other ideas?

thanks!

hmm, this rings a bell, I read a story somewhere about a women who initially
had thrush, but because she developed some kind of sensitivity then all the
exposure, trying to keep things dry etc just caused her nipples to get more
and more irritated. With that roughness and flakiness you describe it also
seems suspicious. I think the solution was hydrocortisone, but for quite a
while and cutting out the things that were trouble some

I'm sure a paci can make a difference at any age, same as getting a new
tooth can, so fingers crossed he'll stay happy!
